That's right, I said it. He's got an awsome cross and I give him kudos for setting up Lampards goal on the set play, but he plays suck uninspired soccer. I've yet to see him play a good game in an England jersey. He was nearly invisible today against France, and when he did something decent he never followed up for support, he always seemed to disappear. When he was his most visible he took a HORRIBLE penalty shot. Aside from not hitting the net, he put it in thw worst possible spot. Fuck, I could have saved that penalty shot.

I'm also angry they took Owen off. Beckham and Scholes should be feeding this guy like a gerber baby, but they couldn't get the ball up. Where the fuck was Rooney when Vassels hit Bartez in the face? I guarantee Owen would have scored there.

yeah, becks is good, but he most definitely is not as good as everyone thinks. I think if you are looking for real game changing players look for van nistelrooy, scholes, kahn, zidane, and davids. these guys will always change the pace of the game, and for the most part are underrated. dont get me wrong people think they are good, but they dont get the same attention as beckham who is not as good.

How can you put Beckham down like that just becasue hes not in the spotlight scoring goals? You don't have to be visible to be a brilliant player, its how he contributes to the field as a whole, how he creates plays and you could even call him the X factor of the team. So many people have taken bad PK shots, its nothing new, the pressure sometimes gets to your head and comes out your foot. Its just stupid to slash a player for not peforming when he can dribble all over your face.

I'm not pissed at him just because he missed the shot. If that were the case then I'd also be pissed at Gerrard. The difference is though, Gerrard was out there trying to make things happen. I didn't see that out of Beckham at all. And remember, this is supposed to be the team captain. Nor did I see any of his brilliant dribbling skills you speak of. All I saw him do was carry the ball down an open feild and make a short pass when he was challeneged, then not support his pass. He sucked. He really sucked, and it wasn't just this game. The only England game where I can remember Beckham being a factor was against Argentina when he got a red card.

He's obviously a good player and leader or else he wouldn't be the Engalnd captain. However, he's probably the weakest midfield player in the lineup.

 
he's a good player but he is overrated though because he gets way more publicity than his skill deserves. but he's still hot.

^you are a complete idiot. Soccer is one of the if not the most skilled sport. But lets not get into this argument, its been done many times before.

What i think happened with beckham is that he has hit his peak and is on the downswing. Sure he has amazing skills, but from what i see out of him he is just not into it anymore. He can hit free kicks from 25 yards out like nobody else, but i think he is getting lazy. He is too into fashion and whatnot to be completely focused. England is too focused on league play to have a truly outstanding national team too.

Yea Adu is about 18 i saw him play when he was supposedly 12 and his muscle definition was incredible not possible and im not talking about just legs overalll body! But Becks is a great Marketable player he gets paid alot because he brings crowds hype and endorsments for his club therefore he should be rewarded for it and though his skills are not THE BEST they are well above average and he the overall athelete on and off the fielD!

i think he is almost like the posterboy for soccer just because he gets all the media. it is like he is the tony hawk, if you will, of soccer. he is the most known, but may or may not be the best. dont get me wrong though, he is amazing, but there are definately better players out there.

Beckham is great. His wife is hot, and he's the patron saint of metrosexuals. He's also an excellent footballer. What more do you want?

u cant rip on becks just for missing the penalty kick, if u think back to 94' cup, Roberto Baggio missed a PK in the final against brazil, and he was one of the best in the world at the time.

but yea, becks is definitely overrated cuz hes the only european player that most americans have heard of, and most of his hype should go to other players like Zidane, or Davids, or Figo.

but seriously, beckham could have played better, he was quiet but so was henry and he is amazing too. But if you look around the rest of europe, every team has theyre money man: zidane figo raul beckham...and all of holland.

there was some real good play in that game from zidane at the end, on the free kick and he showed beckham how to make a PK but another problem with england is that they dont have a legendary goalkeeper.

Today joaquin (sp?) of spain put on a show against greece down low, and by the end of the game they were giving him so much space to work... but he couldnt play a decent cross.

In the whole tournament the team to watch is the dutch... they are going to win it all
