Because it looks cool

Alright so I was one of those kids who didnt really like to wear my helmet because I didnt really like the way it looked and the way it felt just bothered me in general. Anyways I was skiing at Loon Mountain yesterday and all I remember was waking up in the hospital. I ended up with a concussion and now I have to study for all my final exams with a massive headache. To make a long story short wear your helmet no matter what and if you dont have one then buy one it truly is worth it. What makes this story even worse is that fact that it was a nice powder day and I ruined it and now I have to wait at least a week and we are getting another storm on sunday!

Also if for some reason anyone who is reading this happened to be their and reported it at the time or was part of the ski patrol I honestly thank you for getting me off the mountain and to the hospital safely.

I was actually planning on picking one up today. I'm not skiing today (skipping weekend crowds) and I'm going to Whistler next week, so I thought I'd pick one up. I'll try and find a Giro Encore 2 or G10mx

yeah, don't feel bad for trying to get your mom to buy it for you either. Just say that you could end up paralyzed and then show her pictures of a lot of paralyzed people. She will give in and hand over the hundred dollars.

i really think its a comfort thing.  some people feel that its best to wear a helmet all the time, but if your not gonna do anything crazy then i wouldnt be worried about.  I have worn a helmet religiously for since i started skiing, but this year gave up on them.  Im cofortable without it and i dont think you can lay down a blanket rule for everyone, it a matter of individual choice, so let people choose what they want.  and thanks for  the warning.

One time, I was skiing and some guy came bombing down and smoked me sooooooo hard. I hit my suuper hard and it knocked me out even though I HAD a helmet on. So really, you could hit your head at anytime. I always wear one.

i almost always wear my helmet, cept for when im teaching in a lesson or at my local hill. even when im at my local hill, i put it on if i try a trick i've never done, or uneasy about. if i even have to make a mental decision on weather or not i should wear it, i wear it.

i just got one but have been hesitant to wear it... im pretty sure ill strap it on when the hill gets some jumps built...

i personally can't ski without a helmet.... it's already saved my life once, and whenever i don't have one on i just have this wierd mental block and get too scared to try much of anything

Hey for all the people sayin they only wear it when they are hitting jumps or rails or trying new tricks understand that it was a powder day and I was only skiing powder(or what i consider powder on the east coast). I honestly dont remember how or when I crashed but I know I was probably only doing small 180's and 360's and somehow must have messed up and hit something.

off topic but how was loon? i went to cannon on sunday and monday and it was epic...face shots but i did alot of hiking to minersil and what not but it was sick did loon get a good amount? my friends who are lifties said it was blowing pretty hard and that a gondola got messed up and they almost had to evac
