Well since some of you seemed to enjoy my Breckenridge trip post figured I’d do another for beaver creek. headed over there on the 15th for 10 days and will be my first time there.

any tips, tricks, suggestions, insider secrets, places I should visit etc are more than welcome so post up.

skis are packed up. I’m taking moment wildcat 108’s and moment ghost trains.

gf is skiing atomic vantage C’s.

Check out the glades off of the grouse lift, and the stone creek chutes cliff. Grouse also has some fun mellow black runs that I learned to ski switch on. The birds of prey lift has a run that was in the World Cup for racing. It’s just an icy groomer but might as well check it out if you are there. Beaver creek is relatively mellow I would definitely check out some of the other resorts in scummit if you are there for 10 days.
 
Since this is Tuesday, if ya like a street taco, one of my favorites in all of Colorado is "No Se Hagen Bolas"

I like the Beav - the lines never get too bad and the service is top notch. Def. worth checking out Vail for a couple days since you're so close.

Ya I’m likely going to drive one day to vail and one day to Breck.
 
As everyone said, Beaver Creek is a great mountain but a bit monotonous. Go for the groomers.

Vail is an amazing resort for skiing. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It's just that everything else about the place sucks.
 
Contrary to popular belief, Beavercreek has some extremely challenging and fun skiing.

On the far left of the resort, off of the Rose lift, there a series of about 40 different chutes. Many of which are extremely challenging.

The trees on the right hand side of the Grouse mountain lift are a lot of fun.

Hard to find but there’s a fun tree run called “4 Get About It“

The thing about Beavercreek is, it is a very steep mountain, in comparison to most, and particularly in comparison to Vail. so there are a lot of really great groomers

you’ll have a great time.
 
fav place to ski ever. Never crowded, plenty of good terrain. As mentioned, head to stone creek chutes if there's any fresh snow. Larkspur lift is pretty fun too - nice open runs. Not much of a park anymore, but they do have a little one off the cinch chair. The woods on skiers right of the strawberry lift can be good with fresh snow. Free cookies at 3.

Beaver creek fucks. It's a shame their parks are pretty much desd but it is a VR mountain. Rodeo used to be a blast.

Beaver creek is underrated. All the jabronis just ski groomers. I've gotten plenty of pow turns well after storms.

Some fun terrain, just gotta poke around. A lot of people just ski a small portion of it.

If you like wood rails their are some fun ones but not sure if they've been maintained/even still exist.

Def check out Vail as well, it's close and a fun mtn.

Idk, I would def ride BC over Vail most of the time personally though. Just my opinion

the best thing about beaver creek is the bike jump that comes out of the trees I launched off that b.

after reading the one before this ur right left side looking up is the best part we had 10" when we were there and the sidehits were crazy, also like the far right was decent, too many people though

Yes, at the base surrounding Centennial. Cookie Chefs dressed in all white. Like watching a feeding frenzy in the Savannah. Pretty easy to spot from the last knoll up from the base. I wait there for my time to strike circa 2:59 PM MST.

BC did used to have a world-class park, but it dwindled into nothing around 2015. Wasn't the vibe for a family resort - I saw my fair share of local guys getting into fist fights with Florida dads over poor park etiquette. Also saw someone break their spine on a 20 ft jump.

Also, parking for free is super easy and quick in Avon. Whereas in Vail, free parking entails an additional 15-30 min bus ride just to get on the hill.

I’m staying close so just parking at my hotel and evidently there is a shuttle pick up across the street.

You did. And it was same quality as Breck. They had a world class park 15 years back.

Even in 14/15 it was killer. Had a 4 junp line buy mgmt said no and had to axe jump 4. But still prolly was a 35 footer for 3. Tons of rails, 5 jumps in one trail. Mini pipe, zaugged jump knuckles.

I wasn't surprised that it kept getting downsized. Could sense it coming for sure. Still a cool spot.

They still build a small park at least?

i was there in march 2021 they have a couple decent rails a pill and 2 10 ft jumps. I think I might have seen the 50 year old guy that slides rails cuz there was some really old looking guy trying swaps

Christy Sports in Avon is a sick shop. Ski Town All-Stars is in Eagle-Vail which is about 5-10 min from Beaver Creek and super cool.
 
i grew up skiing there. beavo represent

as others mentioned their park got nerfed but zoom room is still worth a lap or two.

best lifts for freeride are #4 (head to stone creek gates) #10 (alta chutes, y chutes) and #11 (rockface access gate). can also hit #5 and do the bootpack up to the bald patch. if you want to get really hectic you can supposedly ride the new mccoy park lift, duck the rope, and ski down to the lake creek trailhead in edwards.

if any of the world cup trails under #9 are groomed you absolutely must ski them. one of the only mountains in the world that lets you mach down their downhill/superg venues.

unfortunately the snow is dog shit this year so a lot of that stuff isn't in, at least as of 2 weeks ago when i was there. stay nimble in the trees there's still a lot of logs ready to snap your tibfib.

for parking go to arrowhead and make your way over to main mountain. all the other stuff is either paid or you have to ride a long shuttle bus with a bunch of fur coats

Seems like they’re getting a decent amount of snow before I arrive. Not parking at the resort. Just riding the shuttle from my hotel.

If you don’t like it steep Vail can’t be beat. Summit county has the best collection of intermediate skiing of anywhere. I went in early Dec one year and stayed at an insane hotel for cheap and it was great.

Id probably rather light money on fire that pay for a trip there peak season.

Going to try and make it over there for a day. Just didn’t love the $40 parking.

I think the bus is free and pretty good and reliable.

That week I went Ubers we’re just introduced and rides there and back we’re insanely cheap like 12 bucks. Might not be terrible.

Paying for parking blows.

Well day one started eventfully. Staying night one in Denver and the rentals front left tire went flat. So had to go back to the airport to swap cars at night. But they hooked it up with a nice upgrade for the hastle.

Hopefully the drive should be easy today. It's been hell with MLK weekend and 3+ feet of snow. There's a quick break and then more snow tomorrow.

Beav is nice although they got a bit less out of this last storm than Vail or Summit. Hopefully they'll be able to open Stone Creek Chutes now. Royal Elk Glade off chair 10 is really fun with tons to explore. If your knees are up for it try the Talons Challenge - ski every bump run off chairs 9, 10, and 11 for over 35k vert. Groomers are always wide open. Still I'd get pretty bored after 5 days, probably worth spending the weekdays at Vail and the busy days at Beav.
