Beats by Dre

Anyone who works for their money would never pay for these things, so wearing them around makes you look like a huge douche. Why do people walk around with these douche-collars? They are not worth 200 bucks, and you're high if you think they are

Because they're the only headphones that are social acceptable to wear around. Plus people don't understand that they're over paying, they think the sound is top-notch.

Noooo. Beats are great tools for social selection. If i see someone with beats, I know to avoid them. That being said most of my friends have beats. Shit.

Beats are mainstream, people hear there bass when there listening to mainstream music and think there the end all be all in headphones. I say Bose is the way to go, I tend to hate on ears but the Bose e201 (that's probably wrong but it is e2 something) are a way better deal for the money and almost 50 dollars less by your pricing, you can also get the over ear for that price

Before Beats existed, you couldn't wear headphones in public without looking like a weirdo. It's not so bad anymore, but there still is that association. Beats are just a way that you can publicly wear headphones, without people thinking that you're weird.

Yeah, and then for like a year or less when they were 'underground' and 'cool' it was as you said, now its worse than any other headphones ever made ever. ever

when my phone broke and i sent it back to verizon they were suposto send me another phone but that phone was discontinued so they sent me a diffrent phone that came with beats ear buds and there pretty sweet. deffinetly not worth how much they sell for though

I mean.... you still look like a goon wearing giant headphones in public anyway. No matter what brand.

Over ears are for home use at your computer, with an instrument, or on an airplane.

I don't really care what people wear around however anyone who uses beats as professional headphones (which some dj's do) should forget about any type of future in music.

I couldn't agree more OP.

Beats by Dre are the most overpriced over hyped pieces of garbage, I always see people in Canada Goose jackets sporting them which really cements the fact into my mind that they're headphones solely for douchebags. Because only a douchebag would blindly spend $600 on a pair of headphones without looking into technical specs and sound quality - because they're more interested in being socially accepted rather than enjoying excellent music on excellent headphones... not that these people listen to good music.

>buys £300 headphones

>listens to shit quality youtube to mp3 versions of shite chart pop songs

>boasts about how good they are

>should be ordered to surrender their ears to medical science

I actually have the beats in ear ones which i find good for the gym or whatever but they were a christmas present. i would never buy the big ones after hearing what other models around the same price are like. the difference between my €60 WESC headphones and the top of the line beats is ridiculously minimal too.

an interesting fact: you know the "Monster cable" that they use, which is marketed as extremely high quality etc etc? apparently in a test, listeners couldn't tell the difference between headphones that used Monster cables and ones that used coat hangers.

I think my small B&W P5's lovingly crafted from leather, aluminium and rvs are more socially acceptable to wear then giant red plastic warts which scream: I'm an idiot.

AE2s. I picked up a pair of these to wear on flights and they are pretty freaking awesome. I tried on the beats and the souls or w.e. and the AE2s were so much more comfortable it was insane. There is literally no way any sane minded individual would buy the beats or souls if they had tried on the Boses. Unless of course they thought they looked more "fresh" which is a dumbass reason to spend an extra 50 dollars on a pair of shitty, uncomfortable headphones.

Beats are a scam. They were originally designed by Monster cable, they of the unnecessary $100+ HDMI cables. The story behind it is pretty funny. Jimmy Iovine CEO of interscope saw an opportunity to make a crapton of money on "official artist" headphones regardless of how good they sounded or whatever. Anyway Monster signed a bad deal giving interscope rights to all of the IP (Intellectual Property) designs, rights to manufacture, etc. Beats kicked Monster out of the deal and took all of the IP and now HTC is the actual manufacturer.

tl;dr Beats were going to sell millions of headphones because they are cool whether the sound was good or not.

Here's the longread from Gizmodo on the whole history, it's an interesting read. http://gizmodo.com/5981823/beat-by-dre-the-inside-story-of-how-monster-lost-the-world

usually when I see someone with beats I just assume they're in 9th grade, because the only people I have ever seen with them are 9th graders at my school.

I've never used them so I can't comment on the quality but for some reason I doubt they are $200 quality. and they take batteries, fuck that lol

Beats are shit. I have a pair of Grado sr80i that have killer sound. They are awesome if you are listening in a quiet place, however I wouldnt suggest them anywhere you need any sort of noise isolation (they arent sealed backs over the cones, this makes the sound clearer since it stops warping of the cone, but it also means there is 0 noise isolation)
