Beartooth Pass

i was going to college visit MSU from june7th till june 18th and i was wondering a few things about beartooth pass because my friend and i need our skiing fix for the summer. Does anyone know if there is lodging there and if so where i can get info on it. Also, i know there is an empire freeride camp there but i was wondering will the park be open to the public as well? any info would help...thanks
 
You basically have to stay in or near red lodge if you want a motel. That said, its way more fun to camp and fish at one of the lakes. I think the camp is usually open to the public. At least it was a few years ago.
 
You can stay in Red Lodge if you're a weenie, or you can camp at one of the campgrounds up Rock Creek. As far as the camp goes, I know you can (or used to be able to) buy day tickets for $35, although I don't know if that included access to the park. It's definitely worth the trip though!
 
well we're driving from ohio so i doubt we'll bring camping gear...we were really going to see MSU but we figured we'd bring our skis and hit up the empire freeride camp while we're near it if we could...how far is the actual camp from the red lodge, does anyone know? and also do they have lifts for public at beartooth or is it all hiking?

Also says there's going to be a big mtn. comp on the 10th and 11th which sounds like fun.

I was up at there this weekend and the only thing accessible was the first headwall from Red Lodge (Rock Creek?). And it was icy, like slide for life icy. And a tele skier I was with slid for life (he's ok).
 
no, empire is at mammoth, i talked to "mike" from empire and he said the website hasnt been updated or something.

Beartooth pass is soooo epic. Sighh..to bad its a 8 hr drive from my house.
 
^I've heard both locations from different reliable sources. Why would they give 15% off to MT residents if it was in California though??
 
a couple of weeks ago i called a lady at the ski area. she said there would be park and that empire was going to be there but i guess things could have changed.
 
so why do you still advertise it as being at beartooth on your site?

is the beartooth open still happenning?
 
i think just mammoth, i called the ski area at beartooth and they said they were probably closing on the 18th and that empire cancelled
 
On there site they have two session for 06 and im def going there on wed to ski on thurs at their park....
