They be sleeping like a max of 100 days so they might decide to hop onto a groomer at big sky and have some fun

Kicking Horse has a bear named Boo who lives under the gondola. Sometimes he comes out before the lifts stop spinning in the spring.

I've seen a family of black bears in the East on the slopes, likely very recently out of hibernation. It was a number of years ago but I believe it was toward the spring and fairly warm. Fun fact though, bears are not true hibernators. I've seen bears most months of the year, including in January.

He has an instagram account too btw. He's hibernating but there are live cams of his bear den :)

At Targhee I think there's a bear den or two, ya gotta watch out in the spring. Kinda unrelated, but a few years ago someone smoked a marmot while ripping, was fucking gnarly.

Skied Whitefish in late march back in 1999.

The resort was a ghost town that time of the year back then.

My brother and I were first tracks on groomer run but was so fun we wanted a second lap on that same run. Still the only skiers on that run and we found huge grizzly bear tracks going straight down the run but then across the run.

I still to this day wounder if we looked back up the run if we would of saw a grizzly bear chasing us or following us.

Don't remember where I heard this story I I think it was a friend who knew a guy who heard from a friend type story so who knows if it's true but apparently a guy skiing somewhere around whister fell head first into a tree well and there was a bear with a couple cubs sleeping in a hollowed out snow den at the bottom

The secret is the Yellowstone bears lose their job demand in WY for the winter so they get seasonal jobs driving the cats at Big Sky. That's why the park is so good. You ever seen a bear rake a lip with its claws? It's beautiful.

i see grizzlies almost daily on the road to work from mid-may to late july but they don't come up on the mountain until we're closed

they chill where the snow isnt so they can eat dandelions and grubs and such

Some lady just got straight up eaten by a Black Bear in my town this year. Everyone went crazy for bear spray but nobody knew how to use it and there where a bunch of incidents. Sometimes I think about the whole situation at night, kinda fun wind down
