Beards and Skiing

Recently, I became the proud owner of a nice thick mountain man beard. I have always looked at beards and thought they looked kinda impractical for skiing, what with all the snow and shit that gets caught in the radical thickness of a good beard. But now that my face is all furry and keeping me warm from the harsh alpine enviroment, I see that the beard is the way to go. Also, when I get a faceshot it sticks there and I can show it off to all my friends.

Im curious to see if my fellow newschooler.com beard owners share my sentiment, and if non-beard owners have a reason for shunning the face mane (and the awesomeness it entails)

NOTE: Now , I realise this is a mainly teenage site so there will be some (lots) of you that cannot grow a beard yet. So whilst I feel your pubescent facial hairless pain, Id like to urge you to keep your haircism (racism but with hair) to yourself.

And if you cant, I dont care cos I have a manly beard and you dont.
 
there's a few men at my mountain that have beards and ski a lot. i don't think they have sex ever though.

but i wish i had a sick beard.
 
Yeah, I've found that the beard cuts the need for a facemask/bandana/whatever, giving you more feedom to move your head. It can also hide your goggle tan.
 
yea i had one for a bit this season, but i found it was colder than not having one cause of all the snow sticking to it and freezing over. but it certainly boosts your mountain man street rep though
 
yes this is awesome i was just about to make this same post!! Beards are awesome for skiing such a good feeling at the end of a cold pow day to peel all the snow and ice from a good full beard. good to hear that the beards are all over NS. we should get a cult going if there isn't one already
 
2 years ago i had a beard, at the time i thought it looked funny epic, when i look back at pics it just looks funny bad. i believe there is a pic of it in my profile
 
I had a beard goin for a while but had to shave it for firefighter school. It was so nice i shaved it and my face was so cold and felt naked for the first few days and in snowstorms it was sick heres a pic form a storm at mount snow this season

the only thing cooler than skiing deep pow is skiing deep pow, then showing off to the people in linw how deep teh pow you skied was, and then having the whoel ride to have your moustachicle constantly remind you of how deep teh pow you skied was.

my crew this year all spontaneously started growing beards/staches, it was awesome. we didn't see each other for a week and all of a sudden we all had the most hilarious/sketchy facial hair. sketchy facial hair is the mark of a true ski bum.
 
beards are the way to go with or without snow, but having snow caught in your man face and hair at the end of a run is a pretty good feeling
 
ya dude, for the last season or 2 i would also go with a little bit of a bread, bu this year im goin all out, havent shaved in a while and its awesome, plus i can play with it when im sitting in boring university lectures, the chicks like it too, and all my buddies call me teen wolf hahah, beards are the way to go
 
funny cause I just took a shower and contemplated shaving my beard but it was cold as fuck at work todayso i decided to keep it for warmth and it is something that I worked on for 17 years now.

Ive spent the season growing out my beard and I LOVE IT. Its so useful for skiing and the vibe you get from a powder beard is the best. unfortunatly lacrosse season starts up soon and helmet strap + beard = tearing, so it has to come off in a couple weeks

beards are perfect for skiin pow, once you let all the snow and shit freeze into ur beard

then it provides for a lovely shield

also, beards are excellent flavor savers

put some granola or shit in it, and u can munch on it while ur skiin down no prob!!
