Bear Mountain at Killington

When i looked at Killington's site just now it says they're moving the park to bear. It also said something about making bear one big park?? What's going on because im really lookin forward to not having to be on the beginner quad anymore.

yea there moving from snowshed to bear mtn, i'm not sure what trail it's going to be on, but I guess they're really going to expand the park and they're also moving the halfpipe from the god awful spot it was in previously, it's really nice to see Killington doing this

I got something in the mail the other day about this and from the sounds of it, they are setting up Bear as 1 big park, and they are re-locating the halfpipe, and tripling the size of one of the other parks (that will not be on Bear).

I gotta dig up the letter later and look again to be sure.

late december/early january. jibs are usually up by mid to early december though.

well the only bad thing about it movin' to bear is the chairs over there kinda suck... but its much better than snowshed because unless you took every hit, it was hard (well for me) clearin' some of those tables, the trail was almost flat... timberline is trippling in length too, which is on Ram's Head... and killington just bought a few hundred acres of land too... K is gonna be sick this year.

the chairs at Bear don't suck, what are you talking about, the Bear chair is like 5 min (same has snowshed) plus it's about 300 times warmer

This is a really good move for them. The beach was way too flat and so cold and windy plus the ration of how many times you would hit the jump as opposed ot getting cut off by some 5 yr old wwsnt so great either. They will probably have a park on bear claw and middle dream maker now, both are good pitched trails for a park. I am pretty sure they are puttign the halfpipe right at the base of the mountain by the sky peak quad. Hopefully this will mean good thigns for the park, the one thing holding rosey back before was it being on snowshed. Also I am pretty sure they are turnign the local know trail 'bears ass' into one of their listed trails. Pretty good stuff in there, like a 20 ft cliff and some of the steepest glades on the mountain, hopefully they don't overdo it and ruin a great trail.

only bad part about it is that the bear chairs are normally crowded and then when u add all these parks it's not gonna add up too well

i would much rather wait at bear with all the die hard mogul skiiers rather than get pissed off at everyone at snowshed.

Ive never skied devil's fiddle mainly b/c ive never seen it open. How good is that area and does anyone think it might be open more this year w/ the changes?

as long as the parks open for my annual easter break killington trip then im happy....

...all the hardcore mogul skiers are probably guna be pissed about this, unless they designate another area as being a mogul area

i've been goin' to K for years and only hit the Fiddle maybe a couple times, its hardly open... you wanna brutal trail, try comin' outta Outer Limits with your knees in tact... i consider myself a pretty solid mogul skiier but that trail is outta control and they host a comp on it every year... steepest mogul run in the east.

yeah, outer limits is ridiculous... I always have to stop in the middle, but you do see people ski the whole thing strait. pretty fuckin' amazing if you ask me.

Anyways, does anybody know what they're planning on putting in this park?

When im at K i stay at bear the whole time. On outer limits and just workin on stuff on wildfire b/c its more of a mellow slow. Ive never even seen devil's fiddle chair open in the 4 years ive been goin up there though. I want to ski it so bad though, i heard there's nice drops and everything

theres a 1 in 2 chance they put a towe rope next to the pipe, and fiddle is acctually open a decent amount in the year or maybe it just sens that way cause im always there and if they do open bears ass to public im gona find allen willson and eat his clidren cause the trail is the shit and all its crachicter comes from the extreamly tight upper part with the some times unavoidable 15 to 25 footer

Where the hell is this bears ass trail? Ive gone down the trail to the far side of outer limits but i dont think thats what you're talking about. Guess i need to find more locals.

Bears Ass is right across from the top of the fiddle chair it sorta ends u being right next to fiddle, it's really narrow through the top then there is some nice hits in there

ya but one wrong turn and have a nice long hike out of the ravine and we can keep the exact entrance on the down low unless they make it a trail, cause u wont see the entrance unless u see someone go there

in about 10 years of skiing at killington, i've only had a chance to ski less than five times but it's so sick when there's snow and can't wait to see if they open bear's ass as a trail

Ya Bears Ass is so sweet right now, if they make it an actual trail it will gain even more people in it and will just enbd up beign the next Julio or other glades trail they made popular. I wish I would have been able to ski in the canyons area when it wasnt cut out at all, that woula been tight. But now its some big boulevard for wind to go up. My opinion is they should keep bears ass the way it is, maybe open up the trail under the fiddle quad it could use soem clearing out under there anyways.

I highly doubt they'll make Bears' Ass a trail, it's almost definitly going to be centerpiece which is to the left of Outer Limits
