Trying to save a penny and eat cheap. Heard rice and beans are where its at. There's just so many kinds and having trouble finding a place to start.

How do you cook them?

What beans do you use?

What kind of seasoning?

Minute rice and canned beans will make it way less of a PITA.

Grocery list:

- box of minute rice

- can of ranch-style beans

- lb of ground beef

- bag of flour tortillas

It'll hold ya over for a few days.

My favorite beans meal is hummus sandwiches tho.

3 cans chickpeas,

Little lemon juice thing,

Head of parsley,

Clamshell of mixed greens,

Loaf of bread

Lunch for 2 all week.

Another one:

- big box o minute rice

- 2 big cans o black beans

- 5 lbs chicken breasts

Grill all the chicken breasts and chop them up. Make the whole box of minute rice.

Rinse the goop off the black beans.

Mix it all together.

Eat that all week. $15.

Canned beans and quick rice are like ten times the cost though.

You can omit like half of the ingredient list and still produce a good result or substitute whatever you have around. Also look up quick soaking beans...basically boil them for 2 minutes and let them soak for an hour instead of overnight.

Beans and rice = ton of carbs and a lot of lectins gonna inflame your intestines, plus your likely to add sugars one way or another for flavor, you need animal protein or at least some eggs are cheap.

try oatmeal with pure pumpkin, stevia, cinnamon, nuts and milk, good cheap and filling, plus good for u

Gonna be honest pumpkin oatmeal sounds about as good as chewing on wet toilet paper

current go to beans meal is for when im feeling extra greasy.

-cube a sweet potato and boil til al dente

-chop up a medium-large onion, fry in a wok

-add can of beans- including oil and sweet potato+tbsp of oil

-add ground meat, or i'll tear up some veggie burgers if i can't find any local meat

-season w paprika, chilli powder, lime, and bbq sauce to taste

- enjoy on tortilla

-very filling

-such grease

Your not wrong, ya gotta do it right and it can be good, honest I hate pumpkin, but it’s very good for u

I take some plain oatmeal cook with milk , add a good bit of ceylon cinnamon, salt, ginger, stevia, tsp of pure pumpkin, granola. It’s the only in expensive thing I could think to eat, everything is so expensive nowadays

Do I like a sugary oatmeal more, yah but it’s filled with poison and sugars.

Same with beans in syrups etc

not beans but baked oatmeal is a bop. make a 9x13 and whenever you need protein just pop one in the microwave and add milk to it and yum hot soup apple crisp type beat

Beans, beans, the magical fruit

The more you eat, the more you toot

The more you toot, the better you feel

So lets eat beans for every meal!!

Yeah but for beginners, eliminating error is worth the hassle.

OP if you're really wanting to get into it, the mini rice cooker is where it's at.

Saying this as a Chinese lady that eats rice basically every day...

It cooks rice perfectly 3x as fast as a normal-sized cooker.

I buy new-crop broken Thai jasmine rice in bulk. Because it's fresh and the grains are tiny, it cooks in the mini in like 5 minutes.

Rice is a pain in the ass to cook on the stove. I've done it many times, but never with any consistency. And the pan is a pain to scrub.

I do this everyday for breakfast...

rice: add cumin, chili powder, paprika, garlic salt

black beans

ground turkey sausage

Mix the rice, beans and sausage. Throw a couple fried eggs on top. Can also add cilantro, avocado, pico, cheese, etc...
