Be thankful

Little story for you guys

So my dad and I were just at our city Civic Center, to put some utlities in our name or something, I'm not really sure. But anyways, as we walked in, I saw this guy talking to two of the ladies at the front desk. He had a long beard, and just looked like he was having a really hard time of it.

As we walked up to the desk, we heard the lady who was working with him tell him that she was going to have to shut up his electricity. He started to tear up a bit, and we heard him say that he didn't have the forty dollars that he needed. She sighed a little, then told him, look, if you have 20 dollars, I can keep it on until November.

He looked down at the ground, then looked up and quietly told her that he didn't have any money to give her. He told her that he hadn't eaten in two days. At this point, my dad walked up and offered to pay the forty dollars. The man looked at him with a face that I will never forget. All he said was 'Thank you'.

After that, we drove home mostly in silence. Not really sure why Im sharing this with you guys, guess that I just wanted to say to always be thankful, because seeing someone that like sure made me appreciate all of the things that I take for granted.

Thats all Ive got for today, peace NS

Such a good story. Thanks for sharing, I wish there were more people that'd do stuff like this. That's really awesome.

great story and I love doing stuff like this for people, it gives you such a great feeling. I dont think you can have a better feeling than after helping someone.

Times are tough all over all the time, but when the economy is as busted as it is now, shit gets intense.

Always thankful for heat, place to live, food in my stomach. Times are tough

oh and i sorta did this a lot last week. obviously it was a way different situation it wasnt like people were going to lose their power or anything but i was working at a lacrosse tournament to help raise money for parkinsons disease research. A lot of people showed up with kids and stuff and either didnt have enough money or had credit cards which we werent taking, i just said you know what you guys came the whole way go a head and go in. People that were working before were actually turning people away and in my head i was just like are these people serious...

you are raising money for research of a disease... if the guy doesnt have 20 bucks for a ticket are you really not gonna take the 10 he is offering you?? Anyways, not that i felt like i had to but at the end of the day I threw an extra 100 bucks into my register thing.
