Im looking at moving out to bc next summer, what and where is a good ski town of a decent size where realestate isnt ridiculasly expensive?(one where I can find work) I was looking at squamish but the only resort I could find was whistler at 50 minutes away. right now im thinking kamloops, what do you guys think?

Kamloops isn't exactly a ski town either, it a small city that just happens to have skiing nearby. If you want more of a traditional ski town feel you want to be looking at Fernie/Nelson/Revy type places. Jobs can be harder to find but they exist.

^^^ i agree 100%. Kamloops isn't much of a ski town. Check out anywhere in the kootenays. Im in rossland and houses r dirt cheap at the moment. Look at nelson, fernie, possibly golden or maybe jasper. I feel revy is a good place to look at right now because in 5 or less years they are going to be a very influential resort if trends keep going the way they are.

Ya im trying to be a mechanic and I havnt started any schooling on paper here in onterrible so Im looking at moving out west and picking it up there

this is kind of an impossible question to answer. what kind of job are you looking for? considering you are asking about real estate, I assume you have a field you work in, so any old job isn't really an option, correct? There aren't many jobs in the kootenays - that should be priority #1, before looking into buying a house. On that note - cheap real estate and lack of jobs go hand in hand.

Honestly, I don't think NS is the place to get the answer to your question. Where are you now? My advice is to check job postings where they are available and come out here for a big trip, check out the different towns and look for jobs.

Rossland, Nelson, Revelstoke, Fernie and Golden are all sweetest ski towns to live in. Nelson is probly the best, trail is pretty greasy

So, I just read the other post you made. I assume you need a college of sorts to do your 'schooling'? There's a College ('of the Rockies' I believe it's called) in Cranbrook, Fernie, and other places, but you'll probably find what you are looking for at Selkirk College, they have a Nelson and Castlegar campus - not sure which has what you want, but Nelson and Rossland are both options for that.

Again, I have to stress, that you need to spend time before even thinking about real estate.

Besides the Kootenays, maybe look into Capilano 'University' in North Van?

Fernie- Kinda expensive rent, lots of mine and ski hill jobs, sweet town, lotsa snow, rad mountain

Rossland- Cheap Rent, super down to earth town, I think kinda hard to find a job

Revy- Little night life, medium rent, AMAZING FUCKING SKI HILL, great culture to support your skiing, but not your drinking

Nelson- Like rossland, but slightly more jobs and crazy hippy action

those three are where you wanna look into.

Fernie is amazing, but im biased because i live here
