The roof of BC Place has collapsed.

Callers to News1130 describe that it looked like a panel of the inflatable roof 'blew off', which led to the entire roof to cave inwards.

 
yeah I just heard that on the radion. quite funny. it's the biggest inflated structure in the world. they still don't know what hapened. well like 30 minutes ago they didn't know
 
Okay so the roof is held up by the hot air in between the two layers of the roof. It is hot enough to melt 15 centimetres of snow an hour so they dont have to worry about getting wieghted down. WHat happened was the stormy weather lately weakened the top layer and then a panel seperated today. WHen that happened all the hot air gushed upward, that cloud of fog in the picture, and therefore nothing to hold up the roof. the roof then collapsed inside the building.
 
hmmm i wonder how fixable it is....i LOVE BC place! maybe they will make it an outdoor stadium for the olympics! Yay! but they won't.
 
I just heard there was a rip in the top layer, and it was slowly deflating so they thought it would be best to deflate it completely, rather than take their chances with it actually collapsing.
