They’re like polar opposite in terms of performance. I own both and they’re night and day.
Nocta: Full rocker, soft tip and tail, mid flex underfoot. Float is as good as it gets, super fun to butter around on, great in the spring slush. Falls extremely short on anything other than deep pow or spring slush. Very little torsional rigidity means it’s not a super stable ski.
5.0: scariest ski I’ve ever been on. Stiff as EHeath when he’s filming Siver at PC, unbelievably stable on everything other than true groomers (it holds an edge better than it should, but it’s still not great. Better than most due to the lack of taper).
if your idea of fun is charging as fast as possible and turning as little as possible, get the CT. If your idea of fun is low angle, deep pow in tight trees, get the Nocta.
