BB/Pellet guns?

So I have acl surgery on wednesday, and I figure I'm gonna be really bored for a while after that. I don't like video games etc much, so i figured I'd get a bb gun to entertain myself with. I just want something that's pretty accurate and fun to use, even with decent distances, so i can set up targets in my yard/surrounding woods and shoot things out of my window. I'd like to spend under 200$ for a decent gun, and I can't really order it online since I want it soon. I work right near a dick's sporting goods so I figure that's probably a pretty good place to pick one up tomorrow. Of the rifles here, www.dickssportinggoods.com/search/index.jsp?categoryId=2293685&cp=2367824.2295234.2295235&CompareButton=yes&f=PAD%2FType%3A+Gun%2FRifles&fbc=1&fbn=Type%3A+Gun%7CRifles does anyone have any reccomendations?

if your just gonna be messin around bb guns are pretty sweet. pellet guns are more powerful buy reloading kinda sucks, thats what i like about bb's is that you just put a bunch in. ive used the remington airmaster near the bottom and its not bad. some of those things are hella expensive for pellet guns.

get one that shoots pellets definatly, like the pointed bullet shaped ones, it's a lot more accurate than a BB, and shoots harder.

and good luck with all that surgery fun

You can get most good pellet guns for under $200. 200 bucks is a bit high for a pellet gun. Hell if you were gonna do that, go out and buy a fucking shotgun. New England Arms makes a great single shot for around 80-100 bucks.

Pellet ammo is way more expensive than bb's though right? And do guns that say .177 cal accomodate both pellets and bb's? As for my two hundred dollar figure, I had no idea what a decent gun cost, if I can get a good one for around 100$ that'd be way better.

usually if you buy a pellet gun(if it says its a pellet gun) they will shoot bbs too as well as pellets.

They also do sell targets that collect the bb's, with pellets it depends on what your shooting since they deform if they hit something hard.

If you want a cheap target just set up a cardboard box, and shoot the side of it. Ammo will collect in the box

i just had a couple friends who were hammered and playing with a bb gun. the one kid told the other to shoot him with the gun so he did. the kid was sick for a couple days after getting shot so he went to the doctor. the bb was inside his stomach and he was bleeding internally. he almost died and had to have surgery. now has a scar from his chest all the way down through his belly button.

ive got one but my mom let one of her co workers borrow it without asking me.

today me and my steppy took the orange cap off some toy gun with a metal barrel stuck fireworks down in it and put thinks like golf tees and shit down in and shot them out. it was pretty wild.

i have a crosman G1 Extreme pellet rifle. it was about 100 bucks at dicks, came with a scope, 4x32 and it shoots 1000 fps with lead ammo, and 1200 fps with alloy, which is supersonic!

it is a single shot, break barrel, but its mad accurate, super fun too! highly recommend it!

for 200 you could get a cheep 17magnum or cheep 22 there are ways to make then pretty quiet is noise and neighboorhs are somethibg you have to worry about

you have that problem too? i have to sight mine in all over again after about 4 months. i think it because of shitty scope mounts...

Just don't shoot any animals, pellets/bb don't have enough power to kill anything quickly and what ever bird or squirrel you shoot will suffer a slow, pain full death.

but get a pellet gun. I had one as a kid, there fun for plinking around in the yard

you kidding?

a .177 cal pellet gun can do 1200 fps, thats close to a .22's speed, and its only a tiny bit smaller of a pellet. i have killed many raccoon with mine and they die pretty quick if you land the shot right..

idk dude I just remember shooting birds and having them flop around not able to fly and not staying still enough so I could hit them again and feeling really bad

you can get a sick airsoft sniper for 100 bucks and then ammo for a sick backyard plinker. you can shoot pretty much anything but if your going for killing birds i like breakbarrel over pump just for ease of use

Deffinatly get pellet capable gun. Ammo is dirt cheap and pellets are more satisfying to shoot at shit. Someone above suggested a higher tech air rifle that can shoot supersonic fps these are the most accurate and fun for bb/air rifles but depending on where you live they may be illegal to shoot in residential areas because the velocity can actual make them pretty dangerous. I would get one like suggested above if you have woodlands as a backdrop but if you live residential grab a pump gun. Also if your trying to keep it cheap having to feed Co2 will increase the price. If you want ammo and a gun for 200 or less go pump. Yes you can trap and reuse ammo but it's a waste of life because ammo is so damn cheap.

Make sure you get an air rifle, stay away from the spring loaded guns. also like everyone is saying a pellet gun, but alot of the air rifles you can get now adays that shoot pellets can also shoot BB's

Ive have 3 rifles, A entry bb gun pump style shoots bbs only, Its fun.

decent accuracy but it fluctuates. Will take out anything up to large

squirrel size. The second is a break barrel pellet gun which also shoots bbs. I have pointed tipped pellets for it. Both of these were used on a farm for taking out pigeons. The pellet gun was too strong and ended up going so cleanly through the bird that it didnt phase it unless it was a perfect shot. The pellet gun will easily severely hurt someone or possible kill someone if you were to hit them by accident. I wouldnt shoot it anywhere in the direction of residential areas. Lastly and the most fun of them all is my Airsoft Colt M4A1 by King Arms. If you are looking to just shoot targets and not hunt/kill this is the root you may want to look into. They are pricier but your options are better on what you can do with it. Semi/full auto. Many attachments. Many variations. Can actually shoot people (saftey first). Accuracy is usually pretty good if you maintain the gun. Check out some handguns too, they can be a boat load of fun also.

Depends on what kind of pellet you're shooting, how many FPS the rifle shoots at, and where you hit it as well. The pointy mean-looking .177 pellets aren't that great for hunting. They pass right through the animal, and unless they hit something really vital on the way through, the animal suffers until it bleeds out and dies. If I was going to hunt, I would use a .22 pellet with a flat nose, and a rifle that shot just under 1000fps. The flat .22 pellets hit like a truck and the shock usually kills the animal almost instantly.

I used to live beside a church. The church had around 100 pigeons living in the bell tower so I used to shoot pigeons. I used a very underpowered .177 cal. pellet rifle and flat pellets. The impact wasn't enough to kill the pigeon instantly, just scare it away, where it would die shortly after. This ended up working out great, because I never had to clean up dead pigeons.

best hunting pellet ever
