Bay Area Police fatally shoot restrained man with video proof

Some years back, a kid my age was going 10 mph over the speed limit at the airport. An airport security officer followed him all the way home and shot him as he was getting out of his car. The security guard weaseled his way out of it by exercising the post 9/11 hysteria and claiming his actions were for "national security." He walked with zero charges.
 
after i was done reading i switched over to the other tab i was using and the first add i saw said in big bold letters "WANT TO BE A COP?'.... somehow that just seems to weird because i have never sen that add before and i visit the site it was on almost every day. that just seems fucked up to me
 
Cops choose to be cops. When that happens they put themselves and their family in jeopardy. Sadly that is the way the society is.

That is fucking appalling. Similar thing happened in Greece about a month ago when a 15 year old was shot by a cop. Mad riots.
 
That is disgusting. he can not use the excuse that the suspect was reaching for something, not only was there 3 other officers but it took the officer like 10 seconds to stand up take out his gun and then shoot. that was so wrong and i hope the cop gets what he deserves. karmas a bitch!

If I would have been there I would have fucking rioted. There is no way that the cop who pulled the trigger would have been able to walk away fro the scene.

It baffles me how every one of those people in the subway didn't get off and tackle the cop and beat him senseless.

regardless, the standard procedure for resisting arrest isn't cold blooded murder.

cops have tazer's for a reason. they even keep them on the opposite side of their belt from their gun. this guy knew what he was doing the whole time.

thats so fucked up.. i hope he gets wha he deserves. there was no reason for him to even draw his weapon.. i really hope he doesnt get away with this..

in my town a cop was driving drunk and hit a woman and killed her and he ended up only doing 6 months in the joke of a county jail..and is now back working as a police officer.. its soo fucked up if i did that i would be in prison for a very long time.

also there was a guy on a crotch rocket who was speeding and when a cop tried to chase him at 120 mph in a tahoe.. flipped it and died. then the kid turned himself in and is now in prison for a long time.. he probably didnt even realize a cop was trying to catch him when he was going a buck20.. yea it sucks the cop died but he shouldnt of tried to chase the guy down in a tahoe... coulda just called it in
 
wow. that makes my blood fucking boil. if i was there, no doubt i would fucking riot and trample those cops. no doubt...that made me so mad. and the way that cop picked his head up afterwards was nothing short of appalling.
 
uh, ok, any doubt i may have had before has now been erased. that was nothing short of a blatant murder. i hope somehow this guy gets put away for life or gets what's coming to him. this warranted a riot.

They were riots in oakland last night...

The police officier who shot him resigned so that he can avoid an interview about what happened. However, Mayor of oakland said that the case was most likely going to be turned over to oakland police and be treated like a normal homicide case.
 
my math teacher is super greek and keeps up on all the shit over there~ she talked to us about that and said that he didnt intentionally kill the kid, it was supposed to be more of a warning shot because the kid was heckleing him or something and the bullet ricocheted off a wall and hit him~ she said yeah the cop was completely out of line and should be arrested but then gave us a talk on when to shut the fuck up
 
I might be wrong here but I thought that Glocks don't have safeties, they just have some wierd trigger so it can't be fired by accident. Am I completely off on this?

Nah pretty sure they have a safety. At least I know for sure my dad's did when he had to carry one.
 
That was just so open and blatant that I have a hard time believing that was purposeful. On the other hand, it's hard to say he didn't. I just don't understand what happened here.....I don't know why he got the gun out on that crowded platform at all in the first place.
 
I think your right. my dad was an ex cop like i said before and he always told me they didn't have a safety. It could be different with any department though who knows.
 
I fucking hate cops so much. No surprise the officer hasn't been identified, they took people's cell phones, and pretended the camera's didn't work. I feel bad for people in like 100 years when America is a total 1984 police state.

Is it just me or does it seem like the officer who didn't shoot but had head control for a while just stepped back and watched it almost like it WAS set up? Thats how the video looked to me almost like he held him there and then stepped back and watched it happen....and not set up like they planned it from the beginning but almost as if the shooting officer told him to hold him or something along those lines
 
Hm. Call me naive but I have a hard time calling this murder. I guess thats what it is, but i just can't believe anyone would be that fucked up to do that. Shit's fucked up. But what also makes my blood boil is people that say fuck the police and shit like that. Yeah, this one cop was real fucked up, but seriously. If all the wonderful things police do got as much attention as this, your opinions would be different. And anyone that says they would've beaten up those cops, really? #1 the subway doors were probably closed. #2 you intend to attack a cop who just blatantly shot someone? do you have any survival instinct at all? a riot at a later point in time however....

finally: i hope this man rots in jail. while being raped everyday by some 500 pound dude.
 
have you ever seen someone tasered? you do not want to be holding onto them. the officer holding the deceased guy down, and then stepping back when the guilty officer fired is exactly what would happen during a tasering. perhaps the guilty officer decided to taser the deceased, and really did pull the wrong weapon, however he should have noticed the difference, and since he did not, be guilty of criminally negligent manslaughter (if all of the above was true).
 
here's the $25 million claim

two biggest things:

the sentence "Several BART Police Officer Johannes Mehserle and other Officers made their way to the Fruitvale Station's platofrm and began ordering passengers, including Mr. Grant to get off the BART train". Yes you can understand what they are saying, however I would assume an attorney would not make such a glaring grammatical error.

they also felt the need to point out the "Latino Officer" in a racial manner, IMO.

the eyewitness accounts for this event are going to be all over the place in court. but i would be interesting in hearing the BART police radio traffic for that timeframe.
 
Before I say anything else I think this is sooo fucked, the cop should be charged bigtime, but he could have been reaching for his taser and was focused on holding down Oscar, then didn't realize it was his handgun until he shot him. Just a possiblily.
 
Idn the thing is that after shooting him none of the officers bother to help him out i mean if i just accidently shoot a man in the back or if the guy next to me did so id be on my hands and knee trying to do what ever i could to save the guy life
All of the cops just stand around doing nothing- in the report i thought i read that they even put the man in cuffs after being shoot
this entire incident pisses me off alot and i really hope this particular cop get what he deserves because what he did is simply not right
Also, i by no means love cops but i dont think we should all go out and kill a cop because this happened there are plenty of alright cops out there but i feel that cops need to respect people in order to have our respect

i think this is disgusting, not only what the officer did but what all the people here on NS are saying. Yes that was murder, and yes that cop is a douche. No argument there, but for the most part cops aren't bad. Being a cop is the one job people think they know everything about, but in reality know nothing. Most cops are good people, taking a crappy stressful low paying job to protect us, he was a terrible person, and because of him other cops are being flamed unnnecasarily.
 
I agree 100%.

i have mad respect for cops but something definitely needs to be done when shit like this happens. If he gets off with hardly any punishment your just going to see this happen more and more often and this will be the benchmark due to the high amount of media coverage.
 
you do realize youre talking about the Yay yippe Bay right now? fistfights on the BART is perfectly acceptable. and if you DONT have babies by 18 then you just aint bangin hard enough son.
