it's like a 12 hour drive to hood from here. anyone want to make a trip sometime this summer? i gotta car, but I sure as hell ain't payin for gas myself. post if if you're down, or might be down.

i can figure out the gas, but I don't know about where to stay. apparently a lot of people camp, which I'm down with, but a tent would be needed.

I'm thinking early july?

Lots of people camp up there... I also think theres a hostel in Government Camp (the town closest to hood).

I wont be able to go up there this summer... unfortunately I have some summer classes to make up lol. (though.. they are online.. hmmm..)

anyone driving back from hood on the 6th ish? i'm catchin a ride up there the week before and gotta get back to tahoe by the 6th

So it looks like AlpinePlease, JibTastic, and xtheprophecyx9 might be down.

It's around 730 miles from the bay area to hood. So, twice that (gotta get back), divided by 20 (i have a cherokee, highway it gets just under 20mpg), times 3.50 a gallon (rather over-estimate) = $256 in gas. Split 4 ways, that's $64 a person, or $86 if only 3 people end up going.

I'd have to do more research, but some people were saying the public park would be good after the abominable snow jam, which is july 12th or something. Would you guys want to leave that weekend? It's going to take a full day to do the drive. I think I'd want like 3-5 days of skiing if I make the trip, but I'm flexible.

Let me know what you guys think.

I'd be totally down around that date in July... I'd say it could be more like $75+ for gas split 4 ways, because you must remember... a jeep Cherokee full of gear + lots of Oregon mountains = less mileage.

At least 3 days of planned skiing is what I reccomend. How much are summer day passes again?

ehhh, I just drove cross country in January, and my jeep contained all my worldly posessions. I actually measured the mileage to be 19.9mpg, and that was driving like 75-80. I was impressed with it.

Looks like lift tickets are $45, unless I read the website wrong.

The hostel I found nearby (not sure if it's the closest one - http://www.bingenschool.com/), is $19 a night for a dorm bed, or $45 for a 2 person private room. However, if you stay at that hostel, you can get lift tickets for $25, which is pretty sweet.

I'd be down to camp too, but I have no tent or anything.

I'll find out the exact date I come back from vacation and hopefully its before the 12th or whatever.

So down though..not even really worried about the costs. Doesn't seem toooooo expensive/

i don't care exactly what day we leave, just want to make sure to use the weekend. that whole job thing - wanna minimize the amount of time i take off.

3 days of skiing (5 days total) sounds good to me. If it's really sick or worth staying though, I can just call work and tell them i'll be back later, so no biggie.

I'm so down for whenever..

as long as I can hit up an internet cafe for an hour each day (online college course.. ew)

Looking for the 29th of this month. I've got a subie to fit 4 comfy or 5 in the 4Runner. Kinda works out either way Subie isn't as comfy - better on gas. 4Runner is vise-versa. I can only stay for a weekend. Oh yeah, I'm camping because that's how cheap I am.

i live just south of portland, an hour and 15 from hood if anyone needs a place to stay for the weekend or whatever if you don't want to camp. I have an extra big empty room to fit bodies.

I just sent a PM to everyone that said they were interested in going. Try to get back to me. Also, if anyone still wants to hop in on this, you've got like a week or so.

im in the bay area for like 2 weeks and if i would of known about this before i flew out and left my ski shit at home i would of been soo down.

bay area is pretty cool though.

im in reno right now and got a car.... i would be willing to make the drive if i got some billz for gas money

yeah the lack of glacier skiing was dissapointing. butttt, it's supposedly snowin a little in tahoe already, so hopefully it's a good year.

I went solo the weekend after the ASJ, def worth it. Sick public park and such a good vibe. I want to camp for a few days next summer.
