i have some ideas but idk. if any one has made one or knows how to make one just tell me how u made it or post pics. thanks
 
do you want to make it out of metal, pvc, etc...? changes how to make it depending on what you use... whats your price range too?
 
k so i would first of all fill the pvc tubes with cement or something to make it solid... cause i had a 10 foot double barrel flat rail made with pvcs and it broke after like 30 runs because of the impact. so do that and then make you battle ship frame out of wood with triangles thrown fucking everywhere to make it sturdy. when you are building the frame, be sure to leave space for you to acces the bolts you will use to attatch the pvc to the wood for quick fixes. also, put atleast 3 bolts on each section over 5 ft (just pulling that number out of my ass, if a section is like 5 and 1/2 ft, put 2 bolts still lol... basically use your judgement.... better safe then sorry right?) ummm, i told you all the problems i had with my rail... so you should be good... other than that, support the shit out of your frame, for example : whereever you have a 90 degree joint between two pieces of wood, put a 45 degree piece of wood to support the joint.

this is true, theyll crack so easily

have the frame consist of up and down supports and some side supports, and when you put your PVC on just put the up pvc over the flat part and cut the end of the up pvc so you can transfer through the kinks smoothly.

the cement would take all of the impact from the weight of the skier instead of the weak pvc??? i works perfectly fine and doesnt crack....? its like saying that you can crack a steel rail? not filling it is retarded cause you will spend more time fixing it than skiing it...
 
PVC pipes are 3$ each, im sure buying/mixing/pouring concrete is much more time consuming and expensive...
 
not even. fixing your broken PVC pipes every session or two is definitely more time consuming than pouring cement once and maybe replacing it once a year. cement isnt 100 bucks a bag....? its not expensive
 
You dont have to "fix" your pipes. you buy new ones a drill them on. its not too hard. plus if you had half a brain you would realize that PVC is ment to flex slightly. filling the pvc with cement would probobly make it even more prone to cracking. I dont know which pvc your sliding but I know mine has never broke.
 
yea and when it flexes everytime in the exact same spot it becomes weaker and weaker and eventually decides to become a lazy ass and stay in the bent position since it goes there every couple minutes then the structure isnt correct therefore it becomes weaker and breaks.... and when i said fix i meant replace lol, you wouldnt see me out there like melting excess pvc into cracks on my rail lol
 
Are you seriously trying to argue that buying, mixing and pouring a perfect amount of concrete into a pvc pipe and letting it dry is easier than buying a 3$ pipe from the store and screwing it on?

yes because you put cement in it once and you are done.... just putting the pvc itself means you are going to have to replace it every week if you ski it a lot... i rode my straight summer dub barrel pvc rail for 2 hours and it broke... then i replaced if with a single barrel pvc, filled it, and i havent had any problems for 25+ hours
 
i dont think there is a right way to make a rail as long as i can slide it its good enoughf for me. my flat rail isnt filled with cement and it is fine. thanks for all the help tho everyone
 
are you beating it with a stick? If so just dont do that anymore, the rail will last longer. I had my double barrell PVC rail in the winter from november to february hitting it every other day without replacing it. than I got a chip in one of the pipes so I went out and spent a whole 3$ and a whole other 3-5 minutes screwing it back on, It never broke, just chipped so i was catching edge. Can cement prevent chips to?
 
naw never hit it with a stick... and i weigh like nothing so... wait, how thick were your pvc pipes... cause maybe we used different types of pvc...
 
Yo, listen to me.

You can't fill the PVC with cement because when you put pressure on PVC it is meant to absorb the pressure and flex a little.

It if it is filled with cement there will be no flex so it will create aton of resistance against the cement therefore breaking it 3x faster than normal. I've rollerbladed on my PVC rail for 2 months and it hasnt broken once, skiing itll work fine. Don't fill it with anything, itll break.
 
i just broke another pvc because it didnt have anything inside of it... i did a 27 on and it cracked right on the top... im changing to ABS
 
there are different grades of PVC pipes fosho, this makes a lot of difference....
+ an even more inventive way to reduce cracking would be to get a metal (or perhaps wooden) rail and slide a pvc pipe over it so your skis dont get damaged from the metal and they slide better...+if it breaks, you just slide on a new pipe....
