Battery operated halogen lights.......

are these even made? im trying to find halogen lights (on a tripod preferably)that are battery operated to use for urban. It would be so much more convenient than a generator. id be willing to pay a very very pretty penny for one, if anyone knows where i can get one, thatd be great.

if they were battery powerd theyd have to be pretty small and not worth much... unless they had sum huge batteries like a 12 volt car battry

do some research, unless you have a truck full of batteries it's going to last you like 20 minutes with a battery that weighs 50lbs for one 1000w light stand.

I really don't think they are made... and if they are, most likely quite low power or very short charge times. If you search hard you *might* be able to find some sort of video production light that runs off a battery of some sort...

Another idea would be to do some research into a power adapter and find something that would let you plug the lights into a car battery through the adapter... not really sure if it's safe or really that feasable, but it's an idea.

how would using one of those power converters from your cars cig lighter work? like where you plug it in and it gives you a power strip with regular outlets? or would the car not have enough power?

it would work but you would not get much time out of the light. Now... if you were to somehow use much lowered powered lights, you might be able to work something out.

I have one its like a giant flashlight and has a headlight bulb and a rechargable battery and it comes with a car charger

They take way too much power to be battery operated. You can get really sweet generators that run really quietly.

Hey man Ive worked a lot with lighting for parties we organised in abandoned railway tunnels. Generators are by far the easiest way about it. You dont need to go super big like 3500Watts, you can get 250W halogens that do a decent job. 4-6 of these and your looking good, nicer spread of light than less 1000W lights. Obviously if you can transport a bigger generator then the more power the better. We've got a 6.5KW one, its on wheels but weighs so much. It is possible to get a transformer for a car battery though. Theyre really cheap and work well. The kind of thing that lets you use normal plugs in your car outlet normally comes with attatchments to let you plug it straight to a car battery. We use it for a portable audio system sometimes. Gives you a lot of power, just means putting it back in the car to charge it up again. Not sure how many lights you could get hoked up to it though.

size and price... it's possible to make a huge one fairly quiet, it would just be far more expensive.

i have a 1000 watt stand and it didnt run off with a power converter strip i think the problem was cus it was like a 350 watt strip probably need 1000+ watt for it

but im gettin another set of lights possib a generator

honda makes some really tight, super quiet generators. But im pretty sure the biggest they make is 2000w

that would actually be dope, if you just have the area somewhat lit but not super bright and mount one of those biking lights on to camera as a spot light type of thing. i think that'd look pretty tubular
