Park City, UT - Ashley Battersby, a Park City Mountain All-Star Team skier, announced that she has signed a deal with Tecnica/Volkl/Marker to become the marquee woman ski team rider on the Tecnica/Volkl/Marker International Team.

"This is huge for me, and I am super stoked," Batterby said. "The move from the pro team at Line to the International Team at Volkl is a natural progression for my career. It’s so rad to have an opportunity to travel the world, film, and compete. I will also be able to continue to help develop the woman’s product lines, much like I have been doing for my other sponsors.”

“We are super excited to have Ashley on board. I feel that this will be a great relationship because of what Ashley brings to the table," said Clem Smith, Director of Promotions for Tecnica/Volkl/Marker. "For one, she has and will continue to be a huge factor in the progression of women’s skiing. Secondly, Ashley is also extremely creative, so we are looking forward to having her ideas for upcoming women’s products.”

Since moving to Park City in 2003 from Chicago, Battersby has become a well known figure in the freeride community. She has consistently been selected in the Powder Magazine Readers Poll as one of the top five women skiers in the world. She has been seen on national television and featured on international television and has appeared in numerous ski videos.

“Its so sick! Thinking back when I grew up skiing on 200 vertical-foot ice hills to skiing with some of the best men and women in the world that were my heroes growing up!," Battersby added. "I’m super blessed to be given the opportunities that have come my way!”

Battersby will be majoring in Flight Operations this fall at Westminster College and will be going to school summer and fall semesters and taking off the winters to focus on skiing.

“This past Summer I started 'Steezen for a Reezen' water ramp camp and it was held at the Utah Olympic Sports Park," Battersby added. "It is a super good way for freeriders to stay in touch with their skis over the summer as well as a way for me to coach ‘new blood’ to progress in the sport. It was so exciting running the camps and I look forward to this new relationship with Volkl, Tecnica and Marker to make the camp even bigger and better next summer. The Olympic Sports Park is one of only two water ramp facilities in the U.S. to practice our sport in the summer and I am super fortunate to have it in my back yard.”

Battersby's other sponsors are Helly Hansen, Scott USA, Park City Mountain Resort, Skullcandy, Bern and Team Vontaar.

Ya, line didn't give a shit about her at all, having her help design a ski and plastering her everywhere... good call, fucking idiot.

nah, they got fucked big time, lets get serious. this is my opinion* think what you will.

1. volkl loses sarah to roxy

2. they have madd money to spend now

3. they go to LINE who finds the hot new talent and snipes them away.

4. they take that talent away by offering more money (ie: coker, dash, skogan, ashley, tim russel).

its not bad i guess, it's just business right? *i'd rather stay with the american brand who's down for the cause, but oh well, the average nasty skier's gotten eat right?

*my opinion means just that, i mean come on, lets start thinking rationally

volkl and line are both owned by k2 so don't worry about any company getting screwed over. it's probably just a public relations switch to get you guys all hot and heavy.

ya they probably do have seperate budgets, that's for taxes and for marketing and a whole host of other reasons. although when a company is owned by a parent company that parent company must do what's best for the shareholders including dictating to the athletes and sub companies where they are to be signed and what products to produce. K2 probably thought this would be the best move for them to make more money somehow. either way i don't really care who rides for who and i don't even know why i answered this thread.

your fuckin stupid, you dont know the reasons, levinthalll said some nasty shit to the battersbys, shit that you dont say to people, i met J once when he came out and stayed with the battersbys and i was there when ash was talking to him and ash dad on the phone,. J is wack, i dont have respect for him, afteer seeing all this shit goes down.

he fucked up he is fuckin whhhaackkkkk

falso, k2 doesnt run LINE, they own the brand, jason levinthal runs LINE skis, for serious, i've seen him do it myself. the new sites gonna be up soon, its the hotness

Line were one of the best teams a couple years back, now look at them, 1 pro rider, even though it's Pollard, its still god dam weak.

So you've actually seen him run it? do you go and watch him at work? So what he runs the company he no longer owns it. which means he has to do what the owners say. i'm sure they give him a lot of say but if push comes to shove k2 gets the final say.
