Its so funny because its such a nice school and its in the worst town ever. i visited, all the kids that toured with me were the biggest faggots ever. And there are so many chem free dorms, so gay. The interviewer said the funniest/retarded thing to my cousin.

"Ah cant you picture your self here now? walking on the campus with a lacoste sweater tied around your neck, in the fall breeze" and she was totally serious.

Bates isn't Ivy League. One of my friends went there and he wasn't even that smart. Part of the reason he went there was because you don't have to submit SAT or ACT scores.

 
xxxscratch...it is not technically Ivy. The schools that are Ivy League schools actually participate in the Ivy League, their athletic conference for most sports. Cornell, Columbia, Brown, Princeton, Yale, Harvard, Darmouth, UPenn. The ancient 8. Bates is NESCAC, not Ivy league.

If you want to go to an Ivy League school apply to Cornell. Its by far the easiest to get into. My cousin got in with a 1160 SAT without any other special credentials. Its a huge school though...class sizes are larger than most all private schools and even larger than some public schools.

small north eastern liberal arts schools like bates jack up their prices. there is a coorilation between a good name and how much it costs to go there, so they do it for the status. almost all of those schools throw a 15000 dollar scholarship at most students who are accepted though. because they have huge endowments. i mean, its still wicked expensive even with the money youre recieving, but rarely are you going to be paying 40 grand a year.
 
i spent the last weekend visiting maine schools and bates has a nice campus and the most relaxed rules regarding drinking out of any school that i am aware of. However i hated the kids, either they were hippies and most of the football players (i'll probably play in college) were complete dickheads. Colby and Bowdoin are awesome though and i think bowdoin is my first choice.
