i slide my first fucking rail of the season and there's a HUGE gash in the base of my 1080s now .. any ideas? I rode them for 1 day .. do they jus suck? should I take them back to the dealer? i checked the rail and there were no visible 'raised' pieces of metal.

take them to a shop. they will fill the gouge with p-tex. they'll probably be fine.

i didn't come here with pants, and i'm not leaving with pants

or do it yourself. its not to complictaed actually. just get some of the graphite that Swix sells and a metal scraper. iron the graphite into the gouge and then take it off with the metal scraper. works great and it's probably cheaper than having your shop do it

'nigga you shit on me, i shit on you, you put a hit on me, i put a hit on you, a eye for a eye nigga'

My shop p-texes core shots for me for 10-15 bucks (Canadian) depending on how big it is, so I'd say its not really worth the trouble doing it yourself. Just my opinion though.

hahaha you suck !! ive been riding and sliding on my 1080s for a while and the only gouges are from skiing over rocks etc.. you prolly skied over something earlier and not noticed it. Think about it, how can sliding a rail take a gouge out of the base but not ruin the edges ...... or maybe you've got some sort of retard steeze going on

hahahaha. i find this hilarious because when i demo'ed the 1080s at demo days the guy said if i grind ANY rail, wood or metal, then i would have to pay for the skis because he would know if i did or not. so right away he gave me the impression that the skis get gouges easily and they suck. that's why i didn't buy them. isn't he a great salesman?

ha ha....all skiis gouge you dumbass, when something soft hits something harder than itself it will opbviously gouge.....

^Um... no... not true. My skis hardly get scratched or anything from rails, at least when I'm not park ratting. If I stay in there for a few hours they might get a few nicks. They sure as hell don't get badly scratched the first time, unless I screw up.

well most twins have the same base material so you can't say one's better or worse than the other, if a guy hits a rail with a nick in it on PE's he'll gouge his base just as much as a guy w 1080's or Armada's....

yeah def get some ptex and do it up yourself, shops rape you for stuff like that

'And shepherds we shall be, for thee my lord for thee, power hath descended forth from thy hand. That our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine patrie, Et fili spiritu sancti'-Boondock Saints

I must have slid like 20-40 rails so far this year and hit acouple rocks, and no gouges. just use p-tex and it should be aight

i think the bases of the 1080 jus royally suck dick this year. they seem super soft; nothing like the bases of my old 1260s, atomic beta carves, and my new volkl supersports.

i'll try the ptex deal but i'm telling you .. the new bases are awful. when i picked them up from the shop, they have all sorts of little 'lines' running up and down them where the wax looked fucked.

any ideas?

I've slid lots of rails on my 1080s and they're still prime
