Baseball sucks anyone else agree?

i only like the little league world series. its exciting because its short, they make mistakes, and hit lots of home runs

First off this has be talked about to death on NS. But I'll bite, I'm avoiding studying anyway.

Yeah kinda. I hated baseball until I came to college. Now I can watch it and enjoy a game as long as I have friends around me stoked about it.

The Little League World Series is really entertaining though.

It's still one of the lamest sports around. What other sport has players nod off and forget whats happening in a game. I've seen it happen too many times that a player forgets that there's only 1 out and not 2 so when he makes a catch he thinks it's 3 outs and lets in a run or something.

Plus you really don't have to be an all around athlete to be good at it. But I guess that's true of a lot of American sports.

Let the hate begin.

love baseball. Love watchin the games. Been to some amazing games (yesterday too, although that was a great game, not amazing).

It's not such an action packed sport as others, but it's a completely different dynamic. Playing it is pretty damn fun too.

I agree...

I used to live in australia... where cricket is equally as boring.. but super fun to play...

i think baseball might be the same...

As for the games.. the only part i get psyched for is the wave. I remember when i was little at a dodgers game the wave went all the way around the stadium like 3 times... I was excited.

Hockey on the other hand... is intense to watch, and i have never played it.

but then again i'm not what you would call a spectator of any sport... If i'm watching the game it's not because i like to watch it. I don't see the point.

I WANT SAKURABA AND FEDOR IN THE UFC DAMNIT!!!!!

That's like saying if you don't like the law, you probably don't really understand it.

I understand it just fine, I just don't like it.

Baseball is boring to watch on tv, and boring to play, but its fun to go to the games, pay like $6 for a ticket, get drunk in the parking lot then go in and just generally yell a lot.

I have a question to you baseball fans out there...

Is there one (just one) pro baseball player who isn't a standard american fatty? I've never watched much baseball (because it's horribly boring), but every pro player I've ever seen is somewhat to morbidly obese.
Also, Nomen, baseball being fun to play is entirely personal. I, for one, would rather ski, mountain bike, hell, even rollerblade on any given day, when given the option to play baseball indoors, or do any of the above mentioned sports in pouring rain.

I completely agree. People who don't like baseball are the ones who have never played it. There are SO MANY intricacies that most people don't see or understand. A breaking ball that pushes a batter off the plate, but still crosses as a strike, a double play, sacrifice bunt, or hook slide around a tag. For most people, that means absolutely nothing. But for someone who really understands the game, those are little moments of excitement.

And I never played soccer, so I find it mind-numbing, paint-drying, grass-growing boring. I don't care if it's the biggest game in the world. I can't watch more than 2 minutes of it. I probably don't understand it.

Go play some catch with a couple of buddies. One of the most enjoyable, relaxing things you could possibly do.

I thought skiing was the most exciting sport??? We have MEGA-MOOOOOO

I never really liked baseball though, It's kinda boring. Soccer is really the only "conventional sport" that's not skiing, surfing or skateboarding I like. Football is fun to watch most times, so is soccer, but baseball, no.

sure, ichiro is japanese but he still plays baseball for an american team.

AND, japanese baseball players are all fucking badass guys.

the only obese people you will see in baseball are 30+ year old pitchers and a few 1st baseman than can rape the ball. other than that everyone is very athletic and slim, so i don't really understand your argument here

I've come to realize that the only time I really like watching sports is when its a really good game. no matter what I'd rather be playing than watching though. I love football, hockey, lacrosse, basketball, golf and a lot more but have a hard time watching them on tv and being entertained. Only a really good game will keep me watching otherwise I just get bored.

MMA is just awesome though, I don't think there's been many fights I was actually bored.

i instantly thought of jeter and ichiro as well right when I saw the dumb question that guy posed.

Here are some more:

chone figgins (hate the angles, but he's damn good)

there are loads of em....but honestly thats what I enjoy about baseball is you don't have to be a ripped mofo to compete you can be 5'11 and 280 lbs or 6'6 and 178lbs and you can still have talent at baseball.

I've played it all my life all throug highschool and a year of college ball and now I play for my local town team amature ball its a blast.

I'll agree with the guys who said you have to play it to appreciate it, and most people who hate on it don't know the game at all, aside from a home run. If you really think your traditional obese american can jump in there and hit a 98 mph fastball then even think about hitting the 84 mph curveball that comes in backdoor and looks like its wayy outside but brushes that corner of the plate..think again. The cool part about baseball is every single pitch matters as well as every at bat. Its a great game.

And yes another great part is hitting the ball park with your friends grabbing some dogs and drinks and socializing as well as just going out grabbing a glove and playing catch. Always a blast.

baseball and golf are probably the lamest sports to watch. hockey is fucking sick and tennis is funny to watch for 5 minutes just to laugh at the UUUUUUUUUUUH's when they hit the ball

Baseball is a sick sport if you understand it. To the average eye its boring to watch at home. However; if you understand the little things about the game its super fun to watch and play, not quit as fun as skiing and mountain biking, but still up there. Also, you can't hate on a pro baseball player. They play 163 games a year. To play full on 9 inning games 3-4 times a week takes strength.

Hahah, I wonder how many hours of those games they are chewing tobacco or just lulling about. God, that's a terrible argument. They run or do anything for maybe 20 minutes a game.

Pitcher is really the only intensive position. And you could argue catcher. But seriously. They stand around for a couple hours a night and you call that strength?

dont get me wrong i love basebal and play it all the time but some things in it are kinda lame
designated hitter- there payed to strike out with bases loaded cause the pitchers cant hit in the a.lreliever- its actually a sweet job you get payed to pitch 3 innings every few days and otherwise you just sit in the bullpen cracking lame jokes

I don't know man even though you don't think it the position players get a lot of work in. You have to be moving every pitch, and believe it or not after playing 9 innings then waking up and doing it again the next day you are pretty beat. Don't forget about the hours of work they do before the game. Hours of batting practice and infield. Swinging uses just about every muscle in your body. If you don't like the sport thats cool, but you don't need to strip it of all credibility.

there's some relatively athletic baseball players but...

adrian-peterson-02_.jpg

in all honesty I usually don't give baseball players much credit but there are a few very athletic players. Just not on the same level as in other sports like football and basketball where the average athlete is a freak of nature.

And just to comment on "fat" football players, most offensive linemen would run circles around people in this thread (around a 5 second 40) you not to mention lift three times as much. Some defensive linemen have a lot of extra weight but its the nature of the position to be heavy and hold ground. A linebacker wouldn't be very good at holding down the middle like vince wilfork is

You would be surprised how rough baseball actually is. This is coming from me who played 50-60 consecutive games this past summer and I could barely move after some games, let alone get up the next morning and do it all again.

and to Indiana brojones or whatever your name is

a dh is normally one of the most clutch hitters a team has and a relief pitcher/closer is one of the hardest things to do in baseball, imagine coming in to pitch in the bottom of the 9th with a 1 run lead and you have to save the game.

yea i respect closers and some d.h's but now there getting to ful of themselves like manny... but hes stil pretty awesome

no. soccer sucks. hey lets go this way, oh wait a second im gonna follow the ball the other way. damn now it went over there im gonna follow it.... and so on for an hour.
