BASE JUMPING!

has anyone had the pleasure of base jumping? i just recently saw an iMAX movie on it and im thinking about either doing that or sky diving for my 18th bday..thought id get some insight from some of you people who've done it, looks mighty fun, and im up for any adrenaline rush

yeah you have to have alot of skydives in though before you can basejump though i think.

my uncle is a hard core sky diver, he has over 1000 jumps i think. But im stoked, he told me that he will take me when i turn 18. Ya, base jumping looks really sick too, but hell of a lot more dangerous than sky diving, so much timing and skill involved.

but what im wondering is, has anyone HERE done skydiving. and if so whats it feel like to freefall? and in the movie i saw these guys were throwing a lead-filled tennis ball that could create a 7ft crater in the ground, imagine if that was you...

I saw a movie about Shane McConkeys expidition to Baffin Island where they BASED jump for about a week. In that time Shane lived more that some people do in their lifetimes. I can only imagine the thrill of it.

 
i know that the first time id be scared shitless, but the fact of free fall would make me wanna do it over and over and over again

I think that would be so cool. it'd be like jumping, except for a couple minutes. Parachuting is fun by itself, too. I would ski off the biggest cliff I could find, like mcconkey

eah that guy in Cold Fusion free falled for a few minutes and set some world record for base jumping. It looks sort of fun, but I'd rather do something that I have a little more control over, rock climbing, hang gliding, almost anything.

 
not the same. I coulndt imagine a greater thrill. And that dude went 45 seconds. I some Russian guy when over a minuete 45 second on a cliff in Norway.

Good luck with base jumping on yoru first ever sky dive...you do realize that the first like 200 jumps has to be with an instructor and that if you base jumped without and previous knowledge you'd probably freak out and not pull the cord in time

I'm pretty sure BASE jumping is out of the question until you've gotten a serious amount of sky dives under your belt. And some specific BASE jump training. Not to mention that almost every BASE jump you do in the US or Canada is illegal. But hey, if you just wanna go jump off a building with a parachute, good luck!

Its not illegal. There ir Bridge day in West Virginia. And Perrine Bridge In Idaho is legal year roung. The only illegal spots are builindgs, and in natinal parks.
