anyone ever done this?

i used to do it when i was younger and i just started getting back into it last year. I'm ok, i can deepwater start and cross the wakes and stuff. I love it.

yeah i've been doing it for 3 years now. it's some pretty good fun. lately i have been wearing shoes (i know, i'm a pussy haha) cause it KILLS my arches in my feet now. i would consider myself above average you could say.

badass shit, going 45+ and falling does hurt like a bitch haha

My dad used to be VICIOUS at barefooting. He could barrel roll and shit. Pretty intense. I used to do it a little bit, but now I just wakeboard.

im really good at waterskiing but im gonna take up wake skiing (twin tip water skis) and im afraind that id snap all my toes barefootin

haha yeah my uncle taught me, he was good as shit. barrel rolls and shit. he was fucking awesome. now he is too old to do the crazy shit.

and i never thought i'd wear shoes, but it is just so much nicer haha.

i've been doing it less and less now that i've been getting into wakeboarding a little more.

we have guys on the team that do crazy shit

20 ft tower starts

10 foot back barefoot tower

back barefoot around the horn hot pick

i do the beach start in the show

i just got a wakeboard last summer so ive been gettin into that a little

how fast do you need to get pulled? ANy tips for getting up? I just got a boat this summer and I've been wakeboaring a bunch, barefoot seems way harder and scarier.

speed really depends on how much you weigh. for a typical adultmale you need to be going about 40 mph. as for getting up - there are several different ways you can try to learn. Off of a boom would be the easiest, but I don't know if you've got one available to you or if your boat is even capable of rockin one.

Assuming you don't have a boom I would recommend going off of a 75 or 100 foot rope. you don't want to use the 45 or 50 footer that you wakeboard with cause the water is pretty chopped that close to the boat. you can either start off of a kneeboard (easiest) or stepping off of a slalom ski. (You'll get owned a lot harder off of a ski.) Get up on the kneeboard and then get off of your knees so you are sitting on your ass with your feet obviously in front of you. Once you're in this position have the boat pick up speed. Once the water starts getting hard you'll want to GENTLY place your heels in the water. I can't emphasize that enough - if you jam your feet you're gonna get fucked. Keep your knees bent and your back straight. you should be in a chair position. Slowly transfer your weight to your feet. The water should be hard enough that it almost does it for you once you start to put weight on your feet.

One other point to make - keep your toes up. you catch a toe and you'll end up like these dudes in the middle:

when this happens you can kiss all of your oxygen goodbye.

good luck dude...let me know once you get thru the first part if you want any more pointers.

hahah i tried barefoot skiizzin once...didnt really work out cause im a noob...i tried to drop second ski and got owned hardcore pretzel style...i just went into it and smash on my face...Oxygen=gone

yeah dude i think everyone goes thru that when they are learning. i definitely have lost all of my 02 more times than i can count...kicked myself in the back of the head once or twice too. but after awhile you learn how to fall so it doesn't hurt anymore...just like with skiing.
