Hilary would be a terrible VP. Say Obama doesn't accept Hilary as his VP, then every democrat that voted for Hilary is going to get pissed at Obama and vote for McCain instead.
 
He can still offer her room in his cabinet. And i have trouble how that many people who support hillary would end up siding with McCain. It's more difficult to change all of your views around rather than just changing the leader who shares similar views.

it won't be the democrats that end up voting for McCain anyways, it'll be Hillary's independent supporters. Party values > the actual name on the ticket.

To condemn Obama's leaving of the church as a political maneuver, is fair. To assume that Obama's allegiance to the church in the first place was pure and free of political motivations, is naive. Think about how godless this country (and western culture in general) is. The number of openly atheistic, or atleast agnostic, people is ever increasing, and yet in the political realm, to openly admit either is essentially a career ender. In fact, stats suggest that an openly atheistic candidate is less electable than an openly homosexual one (per "The God Delusion")...and we know how deplorable those morally depraved gays are (obviously a joke for effect, not my belief, save your hate). To assume that candidates are more devoutly religious and spiritual than the gen pop is ridiculous. Churches are clubs and a resume piece. Does anything about George W. sugest a profoundly deep understanding and affinity for the bible and the evangelical movement? No. Does anything about Obama suggest a paranoia and general disdain for whites? No. Do they each depend on the support of those undeniably cringeworthy portions of our population in order to become elected? Yes. This is all part of the game that they ALL play. It stinks, but it is what it is. To judge Obama on the words of another man, tells me that there is little to be critical of.

P.S. If you are a Hillary supporter (fine by me) who ostensibly is democratic in political leanings (fiscally and socially) and you plan on voting for McCain, that's just idiotic. Despite what MSNBC, CNN, or FOX say, issues matter. Don't vote against your ideals out of spite and resentment. Please.

Well if i read right you said that the popular vote wasnt counted right, or some shit like that. And she DID win most of the popular votes, and im not saying that the popular vote is obselite(?), its not it really doesnt mean all that much just shows how people are being represented by the delegates. I love how every word that has been spoken by both candidates is scrutinized and over analyzed. This election has really been a media shit show. He said she said bullshit. It's not in the best interest for our country to be airing shit like that on national television. News channels have finally shown that they're all about business and making money . Ratings, ratings, ratings, that's all that matters. Whoever can spin up the most bullshit gets the highest ratings. Every single news channel, cnn, fox, cnbc, etc is all opinionated. I can't remember that last time I watched a news show on any of those channels without hearing some fuck head spewing his or her shit and trash talking anyone who disagrees. I think American news media is heading down a dangerous road, pretty soon all you're going to hear are extremely right and left opinions. Might as well just have a show where all these news talk hosts duke it out in a ring, it's getting that bad.

It's pathetic that Obama had to leave his church in order to get votes. What kind of country do we live in! I don't give a shit what his pastor said, his pastor IS NOT OBAMA. Are people so naive to believe that just because his pastor has some controversial views, that Obama is there sucking his dick and agreeing with everything he says? I doubt it... The whole buzz around Obama and his church was a gem in the news medias eyes. Just one more thing they can bitch and moan about. Stop for a minute and think, who made the biggest deal about his pastor? the news media... if it wasn't hyped so much by all the major media outlets, no one would be talking about it. People don't know it, but news has a HUGE effect on how you view things. I think everyone needs to take a step back and re-think how they view the candidates. Chances are, that if you really think about, you will realize that many of your opinions have been formed by biased news stories, on the liberal and conservative side. You expect the news to be trustworthy and factual, so naturally you form your opinions based off of what you hear and see. But stop and think to yourself if those news stories can be trusted. Form your own opinions, don't let some dick or cunt in a suit decide what you should think.

Seems like a lot of people need to take a step back and re examine what they're watching and listening to on TV.

meh, if Obama gets in we'll probably go to Costa Rica and take all our money with us, fuck the IRS and fuck Obama's policies. The age of US hegemony is coming to an end. Obama will take away the tax break on capital gains and will single handedly crash the stock market. He will tax the "rich" and cause an exodus as well as a decrease in productivity (Why make $200,000 and pay more tax? Just make $195,000 and pay less). In reality he'll be screwing over the professional class as well as small business, not the rich. We'll see where Obama can find the money for his universal health care, maybe he can pull it out of his ass. Or just used televised speeches to cure people, he's just so inspirational.

Take from those who produce to give to those who do not, sounds like socialism to me. Its already in play for all those who work for the state, lets extend it to everyone. Give someone who pays the most into the system the same shitty universal health care that someone who pays nothing into the system gets! Totally awesome dude. You should listen to the uncut versions expecially the one after 9/11 the whole thing was horrible his pastor is a horrible person unfit to run a church in the same organization MLK started. Obama did the right thing leaving the church but it took him 7 years to many. The whole crazy uncle thing doesn't work if most people had an uncle that crazy they wouldn't talk to him let alone take his advice.

Barack Obama went on NBC with Tim Russert and said that he does not agree with the Pastor, as a member of the UCC i can tell that what that pastor preaches and what the UCC preaches are two completely different things.

drew, first it just pisses me off that you assume everything i say is just spewing bullshit i heard from somewhere else. socialism scares me becuase I VALUE FREEDOM. economic freedom is both at its ends a freedom and equally important as a means to political freedom. i have a real problem with government taking our money, and using it to redistribute wealth and social programs.

the other thing is those videos were not taped by a right wing spy in the church recently. those tapes that the church has for sale. they are not new. wright is a black theologian, which basically believes if god isnt helping the blacks hurt their enemies 'white people' then they should not embrace his love. thats fucked up! obama has gone to this church for 20 years. thats fucked up. i realize that they are two different people but i dont think that settles this issue.
take the church people who picket at military funerals with signs saying fags go to hell and the such. im not going to stick around and see if they have anything important to say. im getting the fuck out of there. in my opinion obama should have done the same alonggg time ago.
 
are you joking? the fundamentals of a persons life should be a deciding factor in determining whether or not they are qualified to be president. but, they shouldn't affect policy.

i don't think the pastor thing was THAT big of a deal, but then again my vote will be going to McCain anyways

All i know is that american politics are like a cluster fuck, and circle jerk mixed into one. I TRYED to watch a whole hour of CNN.....and literaly wanted to shit a brick. Its so fucking back and fucked up. The whole two party concept is screwed, and EVERYBODY bitches about it, but nobody votes. Honestly i just don't care. All i have to say im happy i live in canada, like our government is still sort of fucked, but not nearly as much as the states.
 
socialism and communism aren't the same thing. They both have a super strong central government, but socialism doesn't restrict a person as much. And, I think America needs to be a little more socialist, you can say that is not what America is for but then you would be wrong, the founding fathers believed that the government should help its people. Sure they hated the huge taxes in Britain because they weren't helping the states, but that doesn't mean they disliked taxes all togeather, they wanted the government to use its power to help the people instead of helping itself. If Barack became president and started raising taxes, it would go back to help the people of this country, its not like he is going to raise his own salary...
 
this whole "tell me your economically free when your looking for your next meal". that doesnt even have anything to do with economic freedom. thats just saying poor people dont have money. economic freedom is the choice to do what YOU want with your money, not giving it to government for them to choose where it goes. i give more to charities then the government gives from the money they steal from me. i dont need the government to take my money from to help someone else, thats what i choose to do in my economic freedom. i already give plenty to this system in taxes, and i am not willing to give more.

my point with the church is that what that church preaches is wrong, and no matter how many friends your kid may have in the church, it is not something you should endorse or belong to being a presidential canidate
 
i realize they are not the same but still very close. and no, the founding fathers would not want socialism. they didnt even want a federal government, just states governments, but found a federal government necesarry for defensive purposes.
 
Alot of the stuff wright said is true though, and Obama doesn't believe the same things his pastor does. Even if Obama was some super racist person, would it be a bad thing? I don't think so, because he wouldn't be able to do anything to hurt white people.
 
Then why was he part of his church? Believe it or not beliefs are why you choose a church. Crazy, I know. Except maybe Obama was just sticking around because his children had a lot of friends at Sunday school? Because it is not. It is the ideals that Wright and that church are founded in, that Obama supported for 20 years that will impact his decisions.
 
How? They didn't want to tax the people for a strong government, or have the government interfere at all, because they thought the government shouldn't take from the people it help the people. In todays world we need taxes to provide for the people.
