I'm coming to the states from Canada, and I just want to hear your opinions on which banks are the best. I want open up chequing (sp) and savings accounts as well as have a credit card with them.

Right now I think that citi seems pretty good.. can't see much fees and the credit card gives decent cash back, but I don't know much about other banks.

chase is what i have. it all depends, pick the bank the is located near you. if your a student many banks do free checking and savings accounts. i know chase does.

The banking system in the United States is much more fragmented than it is in Canada. No one here will really be able to give you great advice unless you tell us what region you are going to.

if you're on the west coast, washington mutual is a good bank. very helpful, less fees, etc.

If you're in the Denver area, stick with the smaller local banks. The big ones really suck out here.

Honestly, there's really no right or wrong bank.

Choose one that has a good location for you, and one that gives good offerings.

All the banks have problems, and all banks have customers unhappy with them at one point in another. They all suck to a degree.

in the summer when im in ny i use key bank and when im in breck for the winter i use bank of the west..no problems so far

I'm at NationalCity, it's pretty good but helps to have friends at the bank who clear up my overage charges =)

go to a credit union...they are the best! i have free checking and free savings as long as i have $5 in there....i got a credit card through them with 0% apr for a year and then i just transfered some money from one credit card to that one and my interest rate was 2%. i got a car loan 5.5% amazing!!!! i love my credit union!!!!
