Banff

The conditions are "Go to the USA where there actually is good snow" Cause Canada forgot it was winter this year cause it was baked. Sunshine still has a lot of rocks showing and louise too bring your rock skis.

Yes and no, There are some rocks but Sunshine had a fair amount of snow beginning of the season, but I heard Revy and Kicking horse had some epic snow, So canada is still good. But I wouldn't know because I was too busy shreddingn the epic snowfall in Colorado.

i was at shine for the break and ya there were rocks some places but some pow came on the last couple of day i was therei heard kicking horse and reve had a shit ton

I skied kicking horse a few days ago and it was soooooo good.
Also Its Sunshine and Louise. The Weekend warrior paradise so i mean can you really criticize it.

Alberta Rockies aren't doing so hot these days. I would not recommend heading to Lake Louise. I've heard Sunshine is ok.

Kicking Horse is awesome right now, wish I was home just to ski there...Can't say for Revy.

Could you please clarify. Louise is pretty much next door to Sunshine why would one be in better condition than the other?

Sunshine gets more snow because part of it is on the other side of the great divide. I'm working lifts at Louise and the snow isn't great, my flatmates work sunshine and norquay and say neither of those is much better. Fernie, Reve and Kicking Horse have way more snow. We are due about 12cm tomorrow apparently.

Yes, like stated above me, Lake Louise is bare.

They had a really slow start to the season. I haven't skied there since World Cup, but I know that nothing was open compared to previous seasons. My friend lives in Louise too, saying it's not the best lately.

Gear is packed and ready to go...heading for Banff. How is the snow?

I have been skiing at Jay that has accumulated 200cm.... will I miss it much?

Half of one lift is on the other side of the great devide. Isn't it just a provincial border?? Maybe its magical!

That being said, don't ski Scumshine. Shits wack

KH and Revy are having great Seasons. Sunshine and Louise about average, but with decent snow in the last month. You will have fun. Don't forget about Castle and Fernie if you can drive south from Calgary.

I work at louise and ski everyday. we are having the best jan-feb in a long time snow wise. Everything is basically open, other then a couple of the ER's due to the shit snow pack we had so they had to continuously blast them. We have a pretty fun park set up right now, and up-top on the backside is pretty fun right now. Obviously you can find rocks, considering we are in the "rocky" mountains. I was just at revy yesterday and they have more snow then here that's for-sure. it was ridiculous pillows were everywhere. anywhere out here has good snow right now, just depends what your interested in skiing.

Louise = Great variety of terrain, some good cliffs

Kicking Horse = All the bowl and chute skiing you can handle, great hikeable/touring area

Revy = Good Variety of Chutes and Trees, epic pillows

Sunshine = A chance of getting fired without even being employed.... but actually havent gone this year so cant really speak for their conditions.

Thank you kindly...I will definately hit all the resorts in the Banff area and maybe a side trip to kicking horse if the conditions seem acceptable. ....Can't wait to hit up Delirium (don't worry got a beacon and probes know how to use them) I have some great memories last time I was there...soo stoked.

You won't be hitting Delirium anytime soon - the top is fucked (slid to base so it's still scree) and even if conditions improve Sunshine fired half their snow safety team for doing their job so there is plenty speculation that they won't be able to open the Dive at all this year.

Also just don't give Sunshine any money. They have dropped the ball on everything this year and fired the very people who were responsible for getting the Dive opened as a freeride zone in the first place all because an entitled little prick went crying to daddy - like this and read the info bit to get the down low: http://www.facebook.com/SupportSkiPatrol

Truth.

The Dive may not open for at very least a season or two. also have heard rumours about the other freeride zones being closed for a while

There was about a foot of snow all over Louise today, more in some places, definitley one of the best days I've had there, you'll have fun
