Bales of hay for drop in?

Eh? i might do this for my backyard. for winter would stack them and pack snow on them, and summer i could put a piece of wood over them and turf on that. but how much is a bale of hay and where would i get them?

ive seen people use them to make jumps out of as like a base, but ive never seen them used as a drop in. might be kind of a cool idea.

this is a genious idea!

I'm doin that for sure!!! You could easily make the base of a stall jib or something with them as well!

Thats a great idea, but your not gonna want hay your gonna want straw. And remember to attach all the bales together so they won't move around on you. Bales of straw aren't that expensive.

maybe you should put some plywood where you would step up on the bales. i can just see the bales getting real loose and your boots just busting them apart when you go to climb up

just guessing but like a pyramid so then u can step up the side. after a while tho wouldnt they brake appart from stepping on it?

pure brilliance! you def. want to have something to keep them from getting torn up though (and they start to rot eventually)

naw, straw bales are pretty firm, I wouldnt worry about them falling apart unless you take the wire off that holds it together.

I believe the difference between hay and straw is that straw is the remains of harvested crops such as beans and corn stalks, and is mostly used for bedding. Hay is usually made from grass, and primarily used for feed.
