Balance work out?

I used to have a voodoo board the rocker boards that u balance on. but i dont know where it went so whatever. i found an old inflatable ball like a yoga ball that we got for my pool. i just pumped it up and was standing on it and thought to myself oh what a dope thing to help me with balance.

When i was at rehab for my knee i used the same idea but there was a half inflatable ball then a little platform. Im just using the ball. Ive been on it for like five mins at the most without falling and my ankles are killing me (which means they can get stronger) and my balance will definatley improve.

Anyone else do any training like this?

interesting.......

i'll stick to the balance boards - it's a lot less painful of a fall than it is off a giant ball.

u can use a skate deck and a 2 ltr pop bottle. it costs shit all and you get hours of fun out of it and it helps balance.

 
yeah this things pretty sweet. im pretty sure i saw it as a work out to help with balance and core muslce training in some ski magazine. probably those lame things in SKI magazine that i get on an airplane with Bode or someone, whatever this is tight and i wanna stick with it

if you want to work on training your inner ear ( which controls balance) you could do what i do, which looks lame but works really well, and you just spin around a whole bunch of times and then try to walk straight...you do this like, maybe 10 times a day in repetition, and it helps immensely with balance

lol, i just spin around randomnly anyway, but i do it till i fall over, there was this video on NS where this guy did the same thing with the ball but he was really good at it and was jumping on it and stuff, he also did on a crosswire, he might have been a trapeze guy though cause he was really good

^yeah that sounds pretty good too. but i have now devised what seems to be a pretty good "work out"

1. Get on the ball on ur knees

shit sorry now where was it...

balance on your knees for as long as you can. You'll feel it in your quads so not only is it helping with low center of gravity balance, its also some strength training.

2. On your feet crouched

stay low and it will be harder and youll feel it in your quads, calfs, and ankles. again itll work with your low center of gravity balance. When ur low the littlest movement can mess u up.

3. on your feet but up tall

itll seem like pretty much the opposite of what ur supposed to do for balance(think of surfers, skateboarding, and sliding rails, you wanna be low) but if you practice up tall itll help even more.

so i think with this here plan itll definatley help. whenever im watching tv or just hanging out im on the ball all the time. next season well see if it works

ohh yes it seems to be working. i went for 8 mins straight standing on the phone too. so it was pretty cool

all about the slack line.. you can work on spins in... it's a damn good workout... and probably the best thing you can do for your balance because it's such fluid motion... plus you can work both lateral and fore/aft balance

PS. CAUTION: don't let your friends see you doing this... they may think you're a hippy and light you on fire...

just like mopeds and fat girls... fun to ride until your friends see you on them

Check it out, wanna have strong ligaments and inner leg muscles for the ski season, u grab the same idea the board that u can balance on, but u do light weight squats on it, then do staggered squats, one leg in front on the balance board other a foot or two back but on the ground. Try that when ur done you wont be able to walk, but ur legs will never burn on the mountain.

 
yeah i got one of those half balls for rehab....they work pretty good esspecially with the exersizes

yeah i used to slack line all the time but the trees i used we cleared out last fall for landscaping
