Balance Practice

I want to get ready for the season this year because I hardly got to ski last season. So I need to work on my balance for rails. I saw that a lot of people said slacklines were good, but I live in a cramped apartment with no backyard, so I can't do that. I also heard that standing on a foam roller helped, but my sister has back problems and took it to college with her and I can't seem to find any in fitness shops. I'm also kind of on a budget so I can't get anything fancy. Could you guys give me some advice? Thanks!

2 liter soda bottle, fill with water and wrap in duct tape. then use a skate deck or board of some type and stand on it. about as simple as it gets.

I borrowed a short stick of 6" PVC sewer pipe and cut a deck out of an old oak desktop I was getting rid of. Boom, homemade indo board.

Lots of lifting exercises and balance exercises that involve aerobic balls. Strengthening your core will help with balance. I have a 450 sq ft apartment and i do lots with aerobic exercises. Can get one for less than 10 dollars.

Start skateboarding if you don't already, it actually helps your balance a lot

I've been skating since I was in fifth grade (I'm in tenth now) and I agree it defenetly helped my balance.

slack line, its super fun and definelty helps your balance

Does it matter which way you stand on it? Are u standing on it like the way you'd be on a rail or like a regular slackline stance facing the end of the line?

naw you can stand either way, kinda depends on what ype of line you get. like the surf line you kinda try to stand like you would ona surfboard, whereas the original is more towards forward facing. either way is good though

Hahahaha I remember in wieght class me and my skier friends would do spins on them and of course the burly 300lb football players got pissed because they have no balance and can't spin worth poop.

Good practice to avoid sliding out on rails

1. Get longboard or put a skateboard on a super smooth rolly surface.

2. Kick board away from you so it starts rolling.

3. Jog after it and jump onto it and ride out.

Totally would, man. But as I said before, don't have any room.

Can't you set it up at a local park or something? They only take a few minutes to setup/tear down.

I finally found a place that sold foam rollers and I either use my skateboard deck or just run up and jump on to the roller and practice spins.
