Has anyone traveled on United with their ski gear. If so roughly how much did they charge for baggage? The website is wordy it is hard to figure out how much they are going to screw me in baggage fees!!

$20 for your first checked bag $30 for your second checked bag. does not matter if its a ski bag. Make sure you keep your bags under 50 pounds each

yes. last april... They charged me $25 i think. On their website it says "only one pair of skis per bag" but i had two pairs and some clothes. They didn't open my bag or question me about it.

Yea. I am flying united in 2 days. It's like $25 for the first bag and $35 for your second bag. You can claim 1 bag with your skis and 1 bag with your boots together as 1 regular checked bag.

So you could have:

1 bag with clothes: $25

1 bag with boots + 1 bag with skis: $35

Total: $60 for 3 bags.

20 bucks for first bag i know. ski and boot bag count as one bag. they claim one pair of skis, but ive loaded up a bag with 2 pairs plus a bunch of gear and they didnt question it

Thanks for the info. It is crazy that it now costs an extra $120 roundtrip for bags. I wish Southwest had direct flights from nyc.

check-in online and you get $5 bucks off per bag. i know its not much but its worth it. plus its faster at the airport, cuz you just have to check your bags.

yeah, and they say you arent supposed to do it with special items like ski bags, but i do it all the time, you just might have to argue with the gate lady

carry your boots onto the plane. it'll save you 10$. and it sucks to lose boots. clothes bag and a ski bag without a boot bag is 50 right now on united

you dont want to go over 50lbs. trust me. last time the check in lady was giving me a hard time about my ski bag. which coincidentally weighed EXACTLY 51lbs. you have got to be kidding me. or you can always do the put your foot under the ski bag while they are weighing it, that takes off a good 5lbs depending on how you go about it. just dont get caught.
