Bad injuries

It seems that sometimes you can nail a jump, then sometimes people screw up a little and they get an injury that ends up costing them the entire season. When I think about this I really ask myself if it is worth it. So who has had some bad ass injuries? I've really never had any, and I hope I can avoid them.

this isn't that bad in terms of the actual injury, it's not like it was life threatening or anything but it did end my season in January last year, which sucked royal ass because last year was one of the best snow years the vancouver locals have had in recent years and this year sucks dick. Anyway, it was my first run of the day and there was like 20cm of fresh snow but it was super heavy. anyway, I started ripping this semi-steep glade and aired off this little cliff and did a japan, only I went a lot further than I expected and picked up a lot more speed. I landed kinda funny and started tumbling and about hte third time around my right leg got caught behind me somehow in the heavy snow and since my ski didn't come off I jerked to a stop really fast and pretty much destroyed my ankle. It was severely sprained with extensive tissue damage and took like 3 months of physio to heal. It's still pretty messed and if I case anything I'm hooped. Do I wish I hadn't done it? Yes. Would I ski that run any differently today? Probably not.

i ruptured my kidney tore my spleen in half and partially collapsed both my lungs. i was vancouver general for 11 days and was told not to ski for a year. i was skiing 4 and a half weeks later. skiing is worth it. i have asked myself this a lot lately due to other reasons but it is worth it. most definitly

woo hoo a post i can contribute to. this has been the crappiest injury ridden season of my life all sports included.

So, jan 12 2003 I was backcountry w/ 6 friends at loveland pass and we scoped this sweet cornice w/ 8-10 steep turns coming out of it...took like 45 min to hike to. I'm the first one off and i air it much bigger than i expected but land fine and start to carve my 1st turn and wham i;;m down and don't know what the hell happened except i felt my wrist snap in half...turns out there was a slab of ice under 5 or so inches of pow and i pushed out landing flat on my wrist...didn't even lose a ski. broken radius and ulna 5 wks in full arm cast, 3 wks in short arm cast..still wearing soft cast. Of course, i ski w/ the injury and take some nasty falls but never re injure it. Feb 26, 2003 the day after i get my cast off I'm spinning off this kicker on a bump run feeling good. I decide to hit it one last time and over rotate w/ skis crossed and both skis go into a bump but don't release and i'm thrown backseat. Feel leg snap. try to convince myself it;s a soft tissue injury and ski down on 1 ski. wake up next morning and can't get out of bed...spiral fracture in my fibula 3.5 inches long...2 months in short leg cast (7 wks to go) plus 2 months PT.

Yeah baby that's what i'm talking about

being injured sucks shit

Feb 8, my third run of the day and I decide to go down a mogul run... turns out it's a lot icier than it looks so I move over to something a little flatter and start making quick turns, then -bam- I fall and twist my knee. I got the results of my mri today and I tore my mcl, and have a small tear in my meniscus. I have to get surgery, and can ski again in 9 months, which sucks but I can deal, it's almost summer. Then my doctor tells me not to expect to ski too hard next season, I'll have to retrain my knee to ski and just take it easy... ouch, that ruined my day

Last year, I was at this small local place. All they had was a 25 foot table and I was practicing my japans on it. Then I saw that they had these 2 jumps over on the learners slope, so I go over there to school all the people who think they can hit a jump, thefore they're cool. I hit this jump, but it somehow curved back into itself then downward causing the tails on my skis to catch and for me to break my wrist. Not so much pain as it is embaressment.

my first run one day i went for a half cab safety, hit the lip weird, caught an edge, fell real hard and collapsed my lung. i was supposed to be out 4-6 weeks, somehow i am back in 2! woohoo! still cant jump or hit rails or anything yet though... well i'm not supposed to

collapsed lungs suck

i broke my mother fucking hip, i am 15, it was gay, i barely even got air, like 4-5 feet max

landed fine and got fucked up, gayness

i got wrecked 01/01/03 when i was trying my second backflip, i landed it in deep pow and then my right ski twisted to the inside and my binding didn't release, due to this my right thigh rammed into my basin and twisted to the inside and broke multiple times, can't tell that from the x-rays, it's all messed up...then I was taken to hospital by helicopter and got operated, now i've got 12 screws and a titanium plate plus one big screw into my basin...looks fine on the x-rays, if you wan't to see that, drop me a line...also got a video of that. But I think I'll ski again in two or three weeks.

so have phun...greez

okay about kindney ripping and wutnot, OMG im scared, would wearing a light weight kidnet belt motocross riders wear help protect. Also dont be dumb, wear a cup when sliding rails. they have a thing called a soft cup now that is not hard in stuff but still protects. Cause its all fun in games now, but later in life u might need your balls, my friend was playing bball and got elbowed in the balls, somehow one of his testises went up into his abodomen, he was sent to ER and they had to descend his nut. seriously i have like a football girdle with thigh pads, tail bone pad, and a cup slot, i just pop the cup in before hitting a rail, and after pop it out and put in pocket lol, its funny.
