Ive read from threads in the past that bacons kill it in pow, but how would they differ from a rockered ski? Would it just be that tip dive wouldn't occur as often with rockered skis? thanks for the help

How big are you? How hard do you ski? It'd be hard to have tip dive in bacons unless you were heavy or charged like crazy. Bacons are wide and soft enough to float prob most people. They would also perform a lot better in nonpowder conditions.
You should demo a rockered ski if your really interested. They have a funky feel to them.. almost like its not skiing but controlled sliding/surfing. but they pop you right on top of fresh pow and keep you there. I love skiing crud and chop in them because you like bounce or skip across the surface. Its not hard to ski them on nonpow but it is a lot more tricky than normal.
I have pontoons. Pretty awesome ski for charging in pow and crud. Manageable in the trees, and easy to ski the groomer back. With the rocker, huge shovel, and pintail it is literally impossible to get tip dive. The one thing i dont like is that the pintail throws you back seat if your not on top of your game.
I would recommend something that is rockered without the pintail. I would get the solly rocker or prophet 130 for more powder charging. Get the hellbent or LP pro for more powder jibbing. Praxis, volkl kuro, chopstick, arg, and others i know nothing about.

Bacons have a technology similar to the "butter zone" built into them, where they actually have pivot points in front of and behind where your bindings are, so they flex and become almost rockered when there is resiistance from pow. kinda neat.
however, get on a rockered pow ski and you will never be able to ski a traditional ski again in pow.
