Sorry to make another thread...

Looking at pow skis for this next year. Deciding between the Bacon, Opus, Bentchetler, Blog, and Jeffrey

I've got a pair of Line Stepups for my park ski, so these will mainly complement them and complete the quiver.

I'm pretty sure I'll be happy on any of these skis, just trying to narrow it down.

185 Blog, 183 Bentchetler, 186 Jeffrey, 184 Bacon, and not sure Opus.

If you've ridden any of these, let me know! Tell me whatever you can about these skis.

I'm 5'10" 185 for reference.

One of our riders sent me this when we asked him about changes he'd make to the 12/13 Jeffrey:

"My favorite ski I've ever been on! Took me a little while to get used to it, but now will ski it any day of the week. Really like the rocker profile, compared to the Caylor I think it's a much better everyday rocker rather than mostly a deep snow rocker. Side cut on the ski is amazing, feels like a gs ski when you really lean into it. I wouldn't change a thing about the ski I have. PERFECT

I've own the bacons and they are my favorite ski. Are you looking for a complete pow or part pow. If you want a complete pow, than I would go opus. If you want a pow/groomer than go bacon

at your size I would put the bentchetler at the top of your list if you are looking to charge pretty hard in the steep and deep. Jeffrey if you are looking for something a little more playful and Bacon if you want to slarve your wat down the mountain.

This. I've got a feeling most of the skis I listed will have a surfy ish feel to them. I'm definitely leaning towards the blogs right now, because damn, they are cheap everywhere. But, still need to do more research I guess.

Yeah I would heavily caution you against the blogs. They are like the bacons but are soooo damp. they arent poppy or playful just kinda dead weight on your feet. If you are gonna plow around on something that heavy might as well make it a stiffer chargier ski. And lets open the hate train here. You want cheap. Get surface, they ski better minus whatever other shit people claim than the blogs.

Of your listed skis, I've owned 183 Bentchetlers (the first year model, which I hated, way too soft for my liking) and Jeffrey's.

If you are looking at ON3P, I would also recommend considering the Caylor's if you are looking for a powder ski to complement your park skis. The size may be a bit intimidating, but they are exceptionally versatile, and I was not the only one on NS to use them as my daily driver.

Having said that, I have owned 10/11 191 Caylor's, 11/12 186 Jeffrey's, and currently own 12/13 186 Jeffrey's. The 12/13 Jeffrey's as mentioned above, are so fucking fun and playful, extremely nimble for their size, yet very stable. I find them to be a perfect everyday ski for the PNW when I am just riding all over the mountain. I don't have much experience on mine in anything deeper than a few inches yet, but I have dedicated powder skis for the really deep days. Any day with variable conditions, or if I want to fuck around and have fun wherever the skis take me, hit some jumps or natural rollers, or for just plain old playing around on groomers, the Jeffrey's are the go-to ski for me. The 12/13 Jeffrey's with the elliptical sidecut and tapered tips/tails make skiing more fun on just groomers than I've had on any other ski. Carving hard turns, or just sliding them sideways at speed, the Jeffrey's make skiing more fun than I can put into words.

I would love to see the jeffrey in a store, but I'll just take peoples word for it that its a great ski.

Whats confusing me is that people say that its stiff enough to charge, but still playful. I want to be able to haul ass, but still be able to slash and 180 off of EVERYTHING.

And as far as the blog goes, non playful is a no go. So I might cross that out sadly. And, I'd prefer to save money, but for skis I'll pay whatever. They're skis... we spend a bit of time on them.

Rockered skis don't have to be soft to be playful.

Soft skis make skiing a chore in my opinion, I can't stand to be bounced around by soft skis.

You guys did it. Ordering a pair of 186 jeffreys tonight!

ON3P, I'm looking forward to a fun winter on your skis.
