Backyard Rope Tow Help ++++Karama

I am building a rope tow with an old lawn tractor, some pullies and an old bicycle. I am wondering if anybody has built one before and if they could give me some pointers on getting traction on the rope with the pullies or splicing techniques. i wish i had a hill so I could build a rope tow. Not really worth it when your hill is 8 feet tall, lol
