Backslides & Disasters

So whenever I do a backslide or disaster on a tube or rail my arms tend to swing upwards above my shoulders on their own, it helps me balance but it does not look steezy. Anyone have general tips to help with that.

Not sure why the video is sideways but yea

Your arms will basically always tend to go upwards to help with your balance, the best way to circumvent this is most likely keep doing backslides until you really have that balance feeling down to a T and slowly start to lower your arms

someone might have a better idea but that seemed to help with me

I actually think it looks decently good because even though your arms are high, they're not stiff.

If you're gonna swing your arms up as you jump to help with momentum, maybe train yourself to do it quickly and bring them back down just as quickly.

Yup that’ll probably do the trick I’m fairly new to park so yea haven’t had much experience with backslides

something that helps me out alot with flailing my arms is using poles, it helps to have some extra weight on your hands for the muscle memory of keeping them more steady

Keep on telling yourself that you’re a failure and a disappointment to your family until you finally keep your arms down. This technique is usually successful

if theyre by your side ur gonna look like that kid in gradeschool who would run with his arms straight down

Seems like most people even pros put their arms up a lot of the time. I think it looks fine if they aren't flailing around. Maybe try to grab your ski that you bring up?

Asking NS for ski advice is a bad decision lol.

that wasn't very coolchillguy420 of you bro

OP my 2 cents: didn't look bad so mostly just keep doing it, muscle memory and getting used to shit is like half of park skiing. also the same advice as always, lean forward flex your core and push your shins against the tongues of your boots. more you lean back the more you need your arms up for balance
