ok so i may have the posibility to do some backpacking in italy over this coming march break. i am 16 (will be 17 by then) now i beleive this would be a great experience, and im all for it. So i gotta convince my family that it is a reletively safe trip to do.

can i get any positive feed back from italy?

what is the trip like?

how much do hostels cost?

anything else you would like to say.

whats the weather like in march?

i apreciate it alot.

also would you agree with my parents that 17 is too young to travel in a group of freinds? i need to raise some solid points that i should be alloud to do this

Hye, I was in Italy last March and it was really sick I totally recoomend. It was a school trip so we were in hotels so as far as hostels go im not sure how much I can help you.

But yeah Rome is really really sick, such a great night scene there and theres no drinking age so your free to get loaded. A good number of hot women too

LEARN SOME ITALIAN

I highly suggest it, most shop owners know English, but these guys are all about courtesy and if you make an effort to speak to them in Italian then who knows, you may have a nice conversation they may drop prices, or give you free shit. NO WALLETS I shit you not, pickpockets are fucking annoying, keep all ure shit on the inside against your body and avoid huuge crowds if possible. When your in markets see if you can haggle for prices. honestly your a retard if you try and pay for stuff at their listed price. I haggled a Nice fake bracelet from 8 euros down to 5 in Piza. good shit.

In march the weathers all over the radar, you can get really nice warm Medditerranean days or shitty cold windy rainy days, pack for everything.

I highly suggest seeing Tuscany it was beautiful. Florence and Sienna are awesome. Anywho, if you end up going then best of luck with everything and i hope it works out bro.

I was in Italy a couple years ago and it was amazing. 17 may be old enough to travel through Europe with a group of friends, but I'd suggest waiing till you're 18 and a legal adult. That being said, if you can make it there, I would definitley suggest trying to go to Tuscany region - its the most beautiful place i've ever been. Hotels in the cities will be a lot (i think our hotel in rome was 200 euros a night). try and find hostels, they should be all over the place and will be nice and cheap. if you do get to go, enjoy it man, its a life changing experiece, especially if you havent travelled too much.

ok thanks alot for the replies. i still need some more on the safety issue if i want to go. i dont think i can wait untill im 18 because i will be working my ass off for college. so i figure all my living i have to do now.

i braught it up with my dad breifly and he laughed and said no, but then he said he will discuss it with my mom. he thinks that nobody does this type of thing at this age and people only do it AFTER college. i think that after college i will be working my ass off at a job and wont have time for stuff like this.

anyway thanks for the posts.

So you're thinking about the school exchange one? thats cool. I think what I might do is this thing during summer vacation where they go to a whole bunch of countries in Europe for 3 weeks or so.. a few of my friends did it this past summer and said it was amazing. A bit expensive so we'll see. I guess if you're going to Italy you're gunna need someone to teach you some Italian, eh? I suppose I could share with you the little bit that I know.

lauren i dont want to know how to say "naughty italian!"

but yeah i still want to do this trip. i dont get what your saying about summer...but hey...come to italy with me this summer? haha
