Backpack

Hello Friends,

I just found out me and my family are setting out on an excursion across the country this summer. (no not walking) We are taking the train accross canada but all we can take for luggage is a backpack. So i need a BIG pack. I want the pack after the trip to be useable on ski touring trips in the future, therefore a ski compatable pack. It needs to be around 50L (3000 cu. in.) and i would reely LOVE it if it didnt weigh more than 7 pounds. I was looking at the Dakine Guide pack and thats kinda the number one pack in my mind right now. Anyone have any other suggestions. Thanx guys.

Cheers,

-Keegan

fuck dakine. get north face, gregory, arc'teryx, dana designs...

look on rei.com or mec.com... something like that

dakine makes great stuff....but northface quality is unrivaled..expect to pay a lil more but itll be worth it...ive got a big northface pack like 2000 cu in. or something and its never let me down

thats why you wear the same clothes for like 3 or 4 days depending on how dirty you get. You can wear jeans or shorts for about 3-6 days and underwear for 1 day. Socks 1-2 days. Shirts 2-4 days. If you want to fit alot of shit into your pack make sure everything is perfectly folded and fits in place.

Jea its how i do

north face packs all have lifetime warrantys. no matter what happens to it. I went to costa rica (rural) and packed around with just some shitty pack i bought at a recreation outlet store. its massive though, and did the trick.

actually go into a store like MEC and try on a whole bunch of packs. They should help you find one that fits properly and even fill it with weigth and let you walk around and try it. Will make a HUGE difference finding the pack thats right for your body as opposed to just the coolest looking brand name bag. and if your only carrying clothes 50ltr should do you fine. My 60 carries 10days of clothes, ski boots inside, helmet and sleeping bag no problem

yep, I also know a thing or two about backpacking. TNF or EMS is the way to go. Gregory, Marmot and Kelty also make some quality shit. I'm a fan of the Marmot Vapor 45 myself, and it's about 3000 cubic inches I believe.

also a REALLY BIG FAN of The North Face Prophet and Catalyst series. and the spire is the most indestructable pack I have ever owned. and by indestructable, I mean it's been stabbed with crampons, taken repeated cliff drops, (without me attached thankfully) and an ice axe shot
