Backflips

How easy are backflips to learn? I was thinking about trying them at camp, cause i can practice them on the tramp and stuff. Also, when you get backflips, how easy is it to progress onto off axis stuff like rodeos?

Ya just lean back and keep looking for your landing this will prevent you from stopping half way through. Or at least it works for me

would it be easier to try it of a little kicker just to get used to them, i can do them on the tramp , just huck it off a small kciker?

ya i learned them not in the park, there pretty easy they just take alot of balls to try ur first couple times, and it wont help u one bit in learnin to spin off axis. mabye rodeo but probly not because u do is lean back

You can't just say, lean back and look for your landing, because that is why most people actually get hurt attempting backflips. You should try this on your trampoline first, then once you have it down pat, try it off a small kicker:

The key to a backflip is in the hips, not the upper body. You are supposed to rotate around your hips, so, using physics, if you set a flip at the fulcrum (sp), rather than at the extremities, you will not have to try as hard. Put your hands on your hips, just like a girl does: this is where you set your flip. Pick a point that is ahead and up from you (like a high up tree branch) and try to throw your hips at that branch. This will cause your back to arch and your feet to swing out in front of you. If done right, you will naturally, without any effort, be looking for your langing as your head swings around. If you feel like you need to throw your head to see your landing, then you are doing it wrong. Set rightly, you will not travel backwards during your flip. Infact, the better you get at "setting" the flip (the initial thrust of the hips), the more you will travel forward from your starting point and the easier it will be to get around. Once you master that, you can try and tuck up to grab a mute or safety, or throw it back and to the side for a rodeo/dspin. Remember, the key to a successful backflip on the trampoline is setting the hips.

On the snow it is pretty much the same thing. You do not need a lot of air to do it. Hit the jump a few times to get a sense of how long you have. Then go into the jump a little bit bending forward at the waist. WHen you hit the jump, POP FIRST. If you dont pop and just throw your head, you can hit it on the jump, which is really embarresing, trust me! After you have poped, throw your hips just like you did on the trampoline. It is literally the exact same feeling, only now you are traveling forward.

Hope that helps!

its as easy as on the tramp.

just thrust those hips like ur fucking ur mom at night, and look for landing.

easy, but 3's are still cake walk

dont forget to pop i almost killed myself on my first backflip cus i hit my head off the jump also make sure the kickers big enough cus if its not ull land flat on ur stomach

'AFT' covered it pretty well. it's easy, but don't try your first one in the park - just incase you somehow botch up the rotation and land on your head. learn somewhere on the moutain where the snow is softer.

yeah i was just hinkng of building a kcicker in my yard or something, def. work on it somewhere by myslef or with afriend firt

yeah dude i saw this video of a snowboarder that just hucked it back so hard and he knocked himself out on the lip but just floated a perfect backflip so smooth and landed on his feet but he was knocked out so he just fell over. it was intense

the annoying part is people who have no clue about skiing, and they see a backflip which is so much easier and less stylish than a spin with a grab and are way impressed. as opposed to recognizing the style factor of a smooth spin with a grab and the way higher difficulty

Il tell you something. some of you are gonna call me a liar and shit. But what i write is true.

Since i tried backflip the first time 2 years ago (cleared it on my first try) i have never crashed or bailed on a backflip. If you just got the balls to go big you are gonna make it round, i promiss.
