Backflip or frontflip??

so yesterday we got some snow and i was going to try a punch front into some pow. We ended up build a jump and i thought why not just go for the frontflip instead. So after three attempts of landing on my back i landed the front. I have always been told that backflips are way easier becuase going off a jump causes you to lean back and little.

So my question is did anyone else do what i do and land a front flip first before landing there first backflip?

My friend did one and then i was like dammit! now i have to do one.So i did one first try i kind landed a little back seat.by the third try i was stomping them

Like previously said, backflips are very simple, not so simple to commit too. I think everyone was/ still is scared to do them. Hell i made a little 3 ft jump with a shit load of kick to it and thats how i did my first backy, that was 2 years ago and i still havnt tried them in the park. I know i can its just a mental block , the fact that its not on a small jump scares me.

basically all you have to do to land a backflip is:

Commit, ride in, commit , pop, commit, tuck, keep commiting, land, AFTERBANG

^^^Yeah I same here with backflips I've only done them on pow jumps or little tiny lippy ones. I think Im scared because if I crash when I go to park it hurts way more. AND!!! backflips hurt my abs!!I like need to like do some sit-ups or somethin if i wanna do backflips all day....

its not a matter of easy and hard, its people generally find fronts less scary then backs so more people trys these. Its often the fear of failing on a backflip which leads to lack of commitment which ultimately leads to..well a failed backflip.

I have been thinking about throwing a backflip, and was talking to my dad about it, he was talking about how easy they were even thrown off of bootleg jumps on 210's back in the late seventies at mammoth, so I think I'll try that before a front.

backflips are sooooooooo much easier than fronts,,,, all you have to do is lean back. really hard.

ive yet to do a frontflip. and i doubt i will before march. theyre stupid

the logic: frontflips your going against the jumps natural curve. you cant spot your landing. you have less of a chance of BREAKING YOUR NECK

backflips the jump assists you. you can spot your landing. higher chance of breaking your neck.

both are likely to cause injury anyways.

i find backflips SO easy other then landing, which isnt hard at all anyways.

^^^fucking you^^^
Don't rain on our parade. This has been a successful thread and it is helpful to me and obviously some other people...If we searchbarred everything then we would eventually run out of things to talk about and we would never get a chance to talk to anybody because of "search bar" faggots like you.

I learned misty 5s today
Yes they were super sketchy but I'm getting the feeling of how hard i have to throw things compared to a tramp. I did front flips and i went for the misty landed lek 90 degrees on the landing but i still rode away.Eventually i got them. IT'S ALL ABOUT HAVING THE BALLS TO COMMIT. (sorry ladies)

yea so i decided to bring my frontflip to are big jump in the park yesterday and it was definately different. It was harder to commit because the run in was super long and i had to throw it super hard to get it.

I got my rotation but didnt stand up to absorb the landing. I landed sitting down and i litterly couldnt walk for 2 hours from the shin bang.

So some advice to ppl wanting to try it frontfliping a bigger jump is........ commit, throw as hard as you can, remember to come out of your tuck to absorb the landing

i have done frontflips but its hard for me because i telemark

also finding easy jumps to frontflip on is tough

secondly ive never been able to commit to a backflip

Didn't get into freestyle early enough this season to want to do flips on my skis.. too much instructing =/.

I started throwing fronts on the tramp cuz it just seems like I can throw more energy forward than I can back.. more energy=faster flip=less burns. I've thrown... 4 backflips so far. 1 was off a cushioned wall and it ate my push so I landed on my stomach. Other 3 I think i didn't tuck so.. landed on knees.

Idk, aerial somersaults seem safer to me. Maybe used to it from when I was a kid or something

you went way too big and didnt throw it hard enough haha. you came close but it was definitely underrotated not just backseat

fuck the searchbar!

such a mission, i think if people like u have a cry about the search bar then the site would come to a stop and there would be nothing to talk about and give advise to different people so i say fuck the search bar. it would stop being an active site

BUT... yes i did the same, i got absoultly smashed on backs coz i didnt commit and the jump we built sucked! but fronts where fun! :)

I did all my flips the same day.Started with front flip, then backflip, then lincon and tried Dub Backflip sometimes but never got a clean landing.

i just did my first frontflip on airbag and its not that hard for me, 2 hours later i tried my first superman frontflip which is so fun to do.

idk wtf people are talking about when they say back flips are easy. i my self land my first one then the other 5 i tried i seriously fuck my self up like a dislocated shoulder i can not do then or even come close to landing a back they are one of the hardest trick to do in my book. that being said front are prob the easiest thing in the world to do.

Damn that looked painful... loving the stevens mmm pow, think i was around then. If you watch when you set your front, you just rolled off the lip and didnt set it forward. off jumps you really need to throw your weight up and out, like doing a standing front on a tramp. just make sure you know when to untuck! and i learned fronts before i could backy

Dude same exact thing happened to me at the end of the season. Just when I felt I was comfortable with backflips, I laid one out too much and caught my tips.
The end result was a concussion and a frustrating end to the season. Cant wait to get back and redeem myself!
