Backflip in a quarterpipe

Seen backies thrown in the QP a couple of times in games of SLVSH and a few edits here and there. I've got backies of jumps pretty down and am quite keen to try one in a quarterpipe now.

Any advice? Like I'm concerned about popping to much against the wall of the pipe and going really to flat and also just braining myself on the lip. The look sick though so wanna try em!

Cheers

If you're worried about it at first just add a 180 and make it a flair, cause with flairs it's almost difficult to hurt yourself

Then once you got the feel for the pop just do the backy and that shouldn't be too hard since you can spot your landing really early

Gotta decide if your doing a flare or b flip before you drop in, backflips are easier, but I can guarantee you changing you mind when you upside down and coming down several feet on your back or something only means you're gunna have a bad time.

Yeah been wondering about flairs as well, how do you throw them? I know it's a backflip 180 but finding it hard to visualise

yeah it's basically a backflip 180 on a qp or half pipe wall, and it's a great trick because it's extremely low consequence (at the size youll be doing it, at least. obv when pipe skiers send em far out theyre dangerous haha). most likely scenario you land on your butt/side on a vert wall and slide out, no biggie!

come into a nice qp or halfpipe wall-- as said by deepskier, dont scrub all your speed, you lose it in the tranny a lot anyway-- and POP hard as you throw your head/shoulders/core down and to the left away from the wall

those are my directions to get started. id give that a shot and let us know how it goes, or if you have questions now id be happy to answer them

great, fun trick that you can try a lot without almost any worry of getting hurt. im not a good pipe skier by any means but ill still toss a flair on an icy pipe no problem, it's just not a dangerous trick and is really forgiving

If it's a good 1/4 1/2 pipe with vert it's really not that hard. Just takes commitment. You'd be surprised how easily it comes around.

If you're really scared maybe try a flair or lincoln first to see how easy it is to get around.

It's been a while since I've gone inverted in the pipe but I learned backflips on a sketch 1/4 I built originally. Used to flip in the pipe all the time but was scared to do it off a jump for a while.

Hell I just watched somebody learn some type of lincoln the other day in the pipe. They were like "Idk if I could do it" And everyone was like "do it" and then they came around right to their feet but slid out.

If you're not getting out make sure you pop a bit but def don't completely chuck yourself back. Even then it would be tough to land flat with ho high you'll be going.

Honestly you could pretty much lean with almost no huck and get most of it around.

Spring is here. Everything should be soft, just make sure if it's the sunny side of a pipe it isn't crazy under vert and you're good.

Cheers man! Thanks for the pointers.

Yeah been kinda feeling that you get sent most of the way from the wall and just pop and sorta lean into it like in the video above. Also feeling like can spot the landing for ages and can just chuck the knees up to your chest if you're looking at not making it around.

And yeah heading out to Andorra in two weeks but don't know if they've got a QP in their park. My local dry slope over in the UK has one but that's not quite as soft as a slushy one
