Backflip help(video included) +k

Hey Newschoolers,

I need your help. We had a little bit of powder yesterday and so I decided to try a backflip. I fully comitted but at about half of the rotation i just loose control or turn to the side and fail completely. Video:

I am 100 percent comfortable with backflips, I can do perfect laid out ones on the trampolin, off the diving board at various heights, I can nearly do them on flat ground. On tramp I get everything I'm doing, but on skis I just set the spin and in air I don't get anything. I tried a second one, but failed even harder.

Im desperate, I always wanted to do a backflip and I don't know what I did wrong. It would be sick if some of you could get me some tips of what to do better next time. I will also leave you some karma if you help me.

Thanks alot, Hannes

looks like it was perfect but u just got too much speed and realized it and tried to open up. try hitting the same jump but a little bit slower caus it looked like u just were carrying too much speed.

Looked text book except for ski going out into a spread. You go out of the video right at the critical point so it is hard to say. What does it feel like? Are you feeling like you are getting hung up at the end and can't get your feet back down?

the jump could be a little bit steeper. and you popped too late, and popping is a huge part of it. for practice, do them on a tramp but with weights on your ankles to help simulate skis and the difficulty of moving your feet around

ur pop and everything else was fine, u just threw it to hard. its like spinning to fast when doing a 3. just takes time to perfect it but it looked like really good form just stay calm in the air

well thanks alot guys.

to mr.huck: when i'm in the air I dont get anything I just set it and realize something is wrong and then I land but not on my feet. Heres another video, you can see it better there:

Simply, you aren't committing fully to the trick. Set it a little bit harder than what you did in the second video. Then keep your head looking for the ground and DON'T PANIC! You are setting the flip very cleanly and properly, just hold your composure in the air and you'll surely stomp!

half way through when you are first seeing the ground you fix your head on the snow and then you go past that point which caused you to look up the hill thus turning you around. When you are half way around the flip keep looking for the horizon to come up. This will keep you straight. Your head is initiating your turn up the hill and then you start flailing because you realize you turn 90 and are going to land side ways. you should be fine otherwise but might need to hold the tuck a half second longer if you come up short.
