I have to do a survey at school on weather resorts should let people go out of bounds or not. if you guys could help me out and anwser a few questions that would be sweet.

1.Should backcountry skiing be aloud at resorts?(give reasons)

2.If you have equipment such as probe, shovel, beacon should you be aloud to duck ropes?

3.Should everyone be aloud to do this or only people with proper training?

4.If you get caught out of bounds should there be a fine to be paid?

5.Would you get proper BC trainging if a mountain put it on and it wasnt extremly expensive?

any feedback would be great and appreciated

1.Should backcountry skiing be aloud at resorts?(give reasons) No. Many people die yearly from injuries from trees.

2.If you have equipment such as probe, shovel, beacon should you be aloud to duck ropes?Yes.

3.Should everyone be aloud to do this or only people with proper training?Proper training.

4.If you get caught out of bounds should there be a fine to be paid? No. you should be kicked off or season's pass provoked.

5.Would you get proper BC trainging if a mountain put it on and it wasnt extremly expensive?Yes.

1. Yeah, they should just say that they are not responsible if you get hurt

2. No, if the ski area doesnt want you to be back there, there might be reasons other than thin cover.

3. If you want to duck it, just dont get caught.

4. No, well....maybe if your looking on the resorts point of view.

5. Sure why not.

1. Yes, because it gives people more places to ski and you have to work to get there and only the few who are willing to do that get the pow.

2. Yes

3. Everyone should be aloud

4. No, only if you have to be rescued

5.Maybe but i go into the backcountry all the time and i dont really have any training. all i have is my knowledge of not to be stupid

1.Should backcountry skiing be aloud at resorts?Yes, In European resorts it is common practice

2.If you have equipment such as probe, shovel, beacon should you be aloud to duck ropes? Depends, reason for rope off should be provided

3.Should everyone be aloud to do this or only people with proper training? Training

4.If you get caught out of bounds should there be a fine to be paid? 1 Warning then fines

5.Would you get proper BC trainging if a mountain put it on and it wasnt extremly expensive? Yes

1.Should backcountry skiing be aloud at resorts?(give reasons)

yes, because the ski resort does not take responsibility when you go out of bounds, therefor accessing backcountry from a ski resort is the same as accessing it from anywhere else.

2.If you have equipment such as probe, shovel, beacon should you be aloud to duck ropes?

isn't this the same question as above? if the rope just represents a ski resort boundary than yes, but if the rope is there to protect something (animal, forest, etc) than no.

3.Should everyone be aloud to do this or only people with proper training?

although you really shouldn't be in the backcountry without the proper gear and knowledge, it is impossible to regulate who is allowed to go into the backcountry because in all reality the backcountry is almost always public land and therefor, who would have the right to say no?

4.If you get caught out of bounds should there be a fine to be paid?

if you are out of bounds then you are not in bounds, which means that all that stupid shit about safety and liability at the ski resort ("know the code" stuff) doesn't apply because you are not on their property, therefor they have no right to fine you for not being on their property.

5.Would you get proper BC trainging if a mountain put it on and it wasnt extremly expensive?

in all reality you should not be going into the backcountry without the training. In Canada you can get your RAC (now called the AST 1) for (usually) around $175. I personally think that that's a reasonable price.

1.Should backcountry skiing be aloud at resorts?(give reasons)

yeah it should be, its lots and lots of fun and if youre going to die crashing into a tree then you shouldnt be in the backcountry (i know that sounds stupid)

2.If you have equipment such as probe, shovel, beacon should you be aloud to duck ropes?

it depends on why the ropes are there, and theyre probably there for a good reason

3.Should everyone be aloud to do this or only people with proper training?

it should be up to the people going into the backcountry to decide if theyre ready for it or not, so yes everyone should be able to

4.If you get caught out of bounds should there be a fine to be paid?

no, if the out of bounds is still someones property then the most that should happen is that the people would be asked to leave

5.Would you get proper BC trainging if a mountain put it on and it wasnt extremly expensive?

yeah i would if i was planning on going into the backcountry

1.Should backcountry skiing be aloud at resorts?

yes, look at europe, there are patrol boundaries but nothing saying dont go there unless its complete insanity, its your own choice to go there and at your own risk. there are even resorts that have backcounty terain serviced by lifts.

2.If you have equipment such as probe, shovel, beacon should you be aloud to duck ropes?

why would go if you didn't have that equipment. thats just being stupid.

3.Should everyone be aloud to do this or only people with proper training?

people need to know what there getting them selves into by going out there and need to be told about the dangers.

4.If you get caught out of bounds should there be a fine to be paid?

no

5.Would you get proper BC trainging if a mountain put it on and it wasnt extremly expensive?

yes

1.Should backcountry skiing be aloud at resorts?(give reasons)

Possibly, but only if the skiers are in groups, with everone pieping, with ALL gear...I hate seeing donks on fat twins in the backcountry with no knowledge and no gear, they just put others in danger

2.If you have equipment such as probe, shovel, beacon should you be aloud to duck ropes?

Absoluetly not, if an artea is closed for avy reasons it is closed, this is a sacred law! If you need to ski powder that bad you should fucking hike for it like a real skier, not some pussy ducking ropes...those idots put others in danger and ruin it for those of us who know what we are doing

3.Should everyone be aloud to do this or only people with proper training?

Training is good, but how is it regulated, I have a decade of BC hiking, mountanerring under my belt, but I have never taken a class beyond my avy one...does that make me less qualified than some idot who took some avy two class but has nearly no days hiking?

4.If you get caught out of bounds should there be a fine to be paid?

If your in a closed zone then Yes

5.Would you get proper BC trainging if a mountain put it on and it wasnt extremly expensive? Yes...

1.Should backcountry skiing be aloud at resorts?(give reasons)

At your own risk, always.

2.If you have equipment such as probe, shovel, beacon should you be aloud to duck ropes?

Once again, if you are willing to risk your life it's your own decesion

3.Should everyone be aloud to do this or only people with proper training?

Training should be encouraged

4.If you get caught out of bounds should there be a fine to be paid?

your life? (is a possibility)

5.Would you get proper BC trainging if a mountain put it on and it wasnt extremly expensive?

in an instant
