Backcountry sled access

Hey curious to see how many of you guys from montana/wyoming/idaho use sleds for backcountry access. Also how much do they limit access with sleds and stuff. How much backcountry gets done outside the resorts hiking or sledding in.

thanks

i know in the beartooths and down arround cooke city people do it, i've never done it though. my cousin uses his sled sometimes down in the big horns to get to some bc

I probably would if I had one, but skiing and mountain biking are too much of a finanancial hole to let me buy a sled. So I skin everywhere and avoid places where people ride because I hate the noise. As far as access goes, I think the only place people really do it frequently around Bozeman is at Frazier/Fairy Lake. Everywhere else either gets destroyed by snowmobilers, is too flat, or can't be accessed.

theres people that live around the flathead that ski backcountry everyday ranging from glacier park, to the north fork, middle fork, whitefish range, mission mtns, jewel basin.... all over. as far as sleds go, the people that have them use them, ive been fortunate enough to go out several times with friends that had sleds and had awesome times. i think if i stay living in whitefish, i may not buy a pass next season, and invest in a sled.

other than the flathead, ive heard cooke city is awesome for sled access. i think some film crews went there this last year, i cant remember what movies.... though....

i thought jewel was unmotorized access only? and there was footage from cooke city in a poorboyz flick a few years back

yeah, you're not supposed to take sleds into the jewel, i was just saying ppl skin up there, but most people that skin up there at least from aneas start out with sleds. and also, you can get pretty good turns from the road going up to aneas parking lot by dropping ppl off with sleds up higher.

Anyone from down my jackson, Grand Targhee, or in the big sky locale, my parents are looking at getting retirement property by one of those
