Backcountry in the northeast

Here is my list of places where you can get in some decent back country adventure back east.

1. Tuckerman Ravine (obviously)

2. Huntington Ravine

3. Mount Mansfield - Dozens of options. I've only done The Chin and Hellbrook. Whoever said to watch the meathead movie was dead on.

4. Backside of Sugarloaf.

5. Slide Brook - Sugarbush

6. The Slides - Whiteface

7. Little Jay - Jay Peak

8. Saddleback - Hike east on the ridge to the saddle. It is gnarly.

9. Wildcat - Plenty of out of bounds / backcountry to be had.

10. Mad River Glen - Tons of secret stashes.

11. Canon / Mittersill

12. Church - Sugarbush

Sunday River does have some stuff that will pucker up your butthole. Take it from me, I've skied every square inch of that joint.

I assume you're referring to the backside of Barker / Locke / White Cap. It has shitty exposure, doesn't hold snow and is pretty rocky. Also, there are some sudden drops with flat landings and trees. You can get mangled back there. Not to mention the hike back up sucks, unless you plan on skinning down to one of the logging roads and heading out to Airport road near Big Adventure. Don't get me wrong, you can have some fun back there. There are better places to ride at the river.

go to bolton valleys far left lift then once you get off go to the right and you can go in there for miles

There is a 20ft drop on the side of a local mountain that you can do on big snow days. Unfortunately it's only doable every 2 years or so. And then theres Camelcrack. Its the backside of Camelback.
