Anyone know anything about skiing the bowls off of Mount San Gorgonio south of bear mtn. I was up there today and it looked like with the right snowpack the bowls off the north side could be epic. anyone skied here or know anything about it?

san g is closed in the winter and those bowls are a lot longer of a walk than it seems and arent really too skiable. if you get hurt or something, you're totally screwed because people dont go up there and people have died waiting to be found.

San G is nice, it is a rather long walk.. not really worh it if you ask me... if you were alowed to snowmobile back there it would be a different story...

There is a forest service opperated ski hut just to the west of Mt. Baldy, its right at the foot of baldy bowl... should be good skiing and hiking now that the snow's filled in.

Also behind Wrightwood there a few drainages that have some pretty impressive lines without major hikes.

You should know what you are doing if you go back into any of these places, they can and will produce sizable avalanches.
