Back Yard Park???

Hey,

Im planning on building a really small park in my back yard this winter since i cant get out to the mountais too much, and i know that i have 2 build a starting ramp cuz the hill isnt too steep, but do u guys have tips on easy ways 2 build rails, ill probably be using wood, cuz we dont have any pipe. got any suggestions???

Try and avoid making it out of wood. If thats not possible use 2x4s and screw pvc into it from the bottom of the 2x4 then just bury it

Ok, yeah, I'm new, so what? I've got a quick question. I'm a ski racer turned freeskier. When you go up to a rail (PVC lets say) won't the front edge of my skis catch and dig in? Someone explain this quick. Thanks a ton.

^ u no unless ur edges r super tuned or its REALLY soft PVC, get a detune stone from dakine they are like 7 bucks and it makes shit so much easier, no catching edges on up rails.

I ran out of material for a new sig

only if your doing it wrong. my suggestion which u might not like since your a racer is to get a metal file and file your edges down so there nice and round. that significantly decreces the chances of catching an edge

dont get it twisted

yah ur edges will not catch unless ur really far forward, at my summer setup there is a 5-6 ft gap to a 2 1/2 ft high pvc rail, so obviously im carrying alot of speed, and i havent caught an edge yet.

wood frame with pvc side molding(used on houses)works real nice

Go to any large scale landscape company and get scrap rails from tearing out fence and handrails.

They will gladly give you nice 9' rails no problem. Getting feet for them is the hard part.

Life is tough. Get over it!!!

you dont need to file your edges down, when you slide a rail, your ski isnt actually flat on the rail, you're more on the back edges, its really hard to catch unless you're very far forward

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.

pvc and 2X4's... really easy. go search, I know I put a pic up somewhere.

'Sorry to all those racers out there,' Hall said, 'but in 10 years you guys ain't going to be nothing.'

i think that im going to make a park in the backyard while im home from university. Just a rail... but i live on a river and there are some sick placements. Im kinda excited.

rough, i love living with a nice big backyard, i have this retaining wall, where you could put up a handrail, it'd be pretty sweet, cause there's a hill up to it, then a flat section. don't have a rail the right length or height though so i've never tried it.

i made my backyard rail out of a 2x4 thats about 2 feet above the ground and i put a piece of sheet metal over top of it, it works sweet but make sure to fold the edges down on the sides so u dont cut yourself in case you fall.

i think some modells and sports stores sell small rails that are a foot off the ground for around 40 bucks.

my friend and i were going to do that but the winters ending in like 16 days i believe so the snows washing away. we have a huge park planned out. if we get alot of snow next winter were going to build a killer one but yea man watch out for the wood shit, just find some bars at like a construction place or something. maybee even buy some piping.

yea wood rails are fine, just mkae the bottom plate of pressure treated... me and a friend have at least 4 wood and PVC rails... when you screw in the PVC in, make the hole on top big enough for the head to fit through, so it sits inside the pipe

I have tarps with dish soap and water leading to my rail. It's 1.5 feet high PVC. It's an up flat down and it's all interchangeable. So I can have, flat, up-flat, up-flat-down, and flat-down. I don't have snow so pretty much everything is hard because I don't have enough speed to get onto it. There is one pic of it in my profile as a flat-down. If you want to know what the entire rail looks like, imagine that the jump isn't there, and that an up part leads to the flat part.

Imagine the ns outcry if u(lateralis) were banned. There would be countless threads and petitions to bring u back, it would be like when treadway got banned from whistler. Someone would probably make and sell 'Free Lateralis' stickers and shit. -jflo453
