Back Protectors

Safety first right. So when is it time to invest in a back protector?

I'm 17 and consider myself a pretty aggresive skier. I like hucking shit. 30 and 40 foot drops on a good day. I don't go into the park that often (our park sucks) and I can't slide rails. Switch 3's and 7's are my best tricks in the park. I can do backflips and fronts in the BC and would like to start doing inverts off cliffs and bring them into the park as well.

Has anyone else bought a back protector and how ofter do you use it?

buy one

i bought 1 and i have been so happy it has been there i swear if i wasent for my back guard i would be in hospital

I would recommend one of you're hucking cliffs at that size, and really considdering doing inverts off of them. If you land back seat on a hard landing, or hit a rock, your back will most likely break and you might end up paralyzed.

Most back protectors feel like a really light backpack, and i doubt youll notice any weight problems with them. after the first few runs wearing one ou wont even know its there.

Not only do they add a solid layer of hard material to your back, but they also spread the inpact from hard landings all over your back instead of just one spot. They also stop your back from bending too far back when you're landing on your back on a rail in the park or maybe a log or a rock in the backcountry.

used by motorcyclists first, they crash into barriers at 80mph stand up and walk away wearing this shit, watch out for a product vide from them soon on www.unity-productions.co.uk

POC is the best hands down. I posted a question just like yours about month ago but nobody was of two much help so I found POC and ordered the mesh vest spine gaurd and was it amazing. A little pricey but It was defently worth it. After one fall on a hand rail after freash snow right on my back I was satisfied. I honestly forget Im wearing it after a bit.

^ yeah im thinking of grabbing the poc bug one..... been looking at it for a while now.

Smart decision. The spinal cord is just a long piece of your brain that runs down to your butt. It took me a life-changing injury to figure that out. Way to think ahead bro.

no you dont want poc, there are back protectors from dianessie that cost way less and offer the same proection, same thing with scott. if you want to be able to ride the chair comfortably go with the slytech. its what i use and after 10 minutes or so it molds to your body, also its cheaper than poc

sweet. im definately going to pick up a receptor bug series back protector after hearing all of the positive reviews in this thread. thanks alot for the input guys. hopefully the thread creator appreciates it too lol
