im going to val disere for christmas but this is my first ski holiday and am abit scared i may pussy out off hiting some of the kickers and rails should a just go for it and save money or buy a back protector or protective shorts i can only offerd one of each

Buy yourself a pair of nuts?

Seriously though if you can afford to buy protection then you might as well, id probably buy shorts if I was doing more park stuff and a back protector if I was doing more backcountry stuff because of rocks and things. I don't know I havn't worn either other people can probably give you a better idea of what works best but thats what I'd do. Have a good time in France I'm sure it will be sick.

I second rougi.

I would just recommend getting a helmet (possibly full face?). Unless you're doing serious free skiing, full blown protective clothing is probably unnecessary, and may be restricting.

nah man, who wants injuries ? ive had my share. check out the demonsnow line

www.demonsnow.com

pretty inexpensive, non-restrictive and works real well. i wear them on real icy days.

after you fracture your spine and tear up your shoulder joint, you start thinking long-term.

they have em on dogfunk.com and shits.
