Back country/ AT gear

Now that i'm living in Vermont i have been skiing a lot of deep snow and tougher terrain than i normally would back home. I'm also getting into a career in adventure leadership, and i am at a point where a good back country or AT set up would be very nice to have. But my problem is is that i dont know as much about skis suited for powder and skinning. So id like to see what you guys know and what brands might be best for me to look into buying. I have done some research but i figured i'd ask here, as i have gotten good advice before.

All help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!!

Uphill: skinny and light. Downhill (powder): fat and heavier. Everything is a compromise, you need to figure out your own priorities and sacrifices.

This pretty much what you need to figure out.

I say find a good AT boot and work your way from there.
